Angry panasonic tu dsb 30 sky digibox switches itself off - help!!!

Just got 2nd hand digibox - sky tu dsb 30 - have rigged everything up ok - however when switched on it just says; "further updating information not possibe" along with "searching for channels" notice; - this will last for about 15 seconds or so before it switches itself off on to stand-by. Have gone for forced download - no luck despite everything going to plan - believe that the box has not been used for a while - in addition it has an old sky card (however have tried a new card but same thing happens) - am slowly becoming desperate HELP!!

Although you have already tried it and it has not worked, it still sounds
to me that it has old software on-board and needs a forced download.

Have you tried a known working Digibox on your dish?

try blowing a desk fan over it with the cover off, see if it stops doing it, although it does sound like it could be too late to install a cooler kit on it. the software update is an outside chance.
