East Mallorca - Min Dish Size with Pace 2600

We have a family apartment out in Mallorca in Spain that is occupied for 2 or 3 months a year and are interested in installing a Sky Digibox and accompanying dish. However if the size of dish requiried is really at least 1.8 metres as suggested on the charts etc this might present some problems in terms of not offending next door neighbours in apartments above etc and the management company.

So my question is purely that if one acquires the very best Digibox for fringe signal areas (i.e. Pace 2600) on Ebay or elsewhere what is the minimum dish size that guarantees good reception of 2D channels at most times in Eastern Mallorca (allowing for the fact that maintaining reception during heavy rain is usually very dificult). My understanding from what I have read is that the make and model of the dish is probably as important as the size?

Can anyone recommend the best make of dish to guarantee reception for any given dish size in the 1.2 to 1.8 metre range and also can anyone with practical experience say if a 1.8 metre dish is really necessary to maintain reliable reception and/or is a 2.1 metre dish or larger necessary to maintain reception for 99% of the time in Eastern Mallorca?

Also if anyone knows of a low priced satellite dish installer in Mallorca willing to work in conjunction with an owner provider Sky Digibox it would also be much appreciated. If posting this data in the forum offends advertising rules then please do not hesitate to send me a PM about it.

I've only ever seen two reports from Mallorca, one from the West with a 1.2m dish and losing channels in the evening, then one from the East with a 1.8m dish, but they don't comment on whether the reception is 24hr.

There is a report from Menorca from a resident with a 1.2m dish and he claims to receive all of the 2D channels 24hr.

If you get a quality dish like the Andrews Channel Master with C120 Feedhorn, then you will certainly have a better chance than with one of the cheaper 1.2m dishes, although dishes like the 1.2m Gilbertini are not far behind.

Reception in Mallorca

Just seen your question while trawling through for info on what Sky+ box to use in Mallorca. I live in Puerto Pollenca on the North-East coast. Using a 1.35 dish with an Invacom twin LNB feeding a Panasonic DSB30 receiver a get adequate reception most of the time. Don't know why but some regions are stronger than others. eg if I loose the midlands BBC & ITV signals I can still get BBC LOndon & ITV Meridian.
