Question Comparing Channel Master 2.4, prodelin 2.4 & Patriot 2.4

Which is the best dish among Channel Master 2.4, Prodelin 2.4 & Patriot 2.4?
A lot of people told me Channel Master is the best and actually It can be comparized with most of the 3 mt dish around, expecially the ones that are set in Cyprus.
I would appreciate if anyone could help me to confirm all this.
Of course a Channel Master 2.4 mt dish will cost around € 3000 but it would be interesting to know if it is as good as a 3 mt dish.
Thank you to everybody who will help me
Ciao

Channel Master the company have had serious trouble this year. There is no certainty the parts will be available at the moment. Patriot does have dealers in Europe and seems to be doing quite well for a ten year old business.

It is however a 2 piece Fibreglass dish, and is easy to assemble.
E3000 is a lot of money though when you consider a 3 piece Prodelin 1253 (also fibreglass) has the same performance but costs under E1000 in most areas, and comes with a polarmount for motorising.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

From the UK - so GBP / sterling

Prodelin 1252 - fixed antenna 2.4m - £655 + tax (single polarity Ku feed)
Prodelin 1253 - Polarmount antenna - £799 + tax (requires separate feed)
Prodelin 0800707 - post/foundation - £349 + tax (5.5"/140mm diameter)

1253 antenna requires the heavy duty 2" shaft type actuator

Astra 2D Reception - Tony

Tony,

If you want to hold on till mid Jan I just had an interesting chat with a local installer/supplier Billy@Telestarr here in Malta.

Billy tells me that they have ordered Supral Offset antennas http://www.supral.net/ant2_4.htm in the 2.7m (2670mm) variety. This is a 2.7m offset dish that they will have in stock here in Malta mid-Jan. Billy tells me that he intends to install one immediately at their shop to see whether they can receive the 2D beam and what the performance is like. He has indicated a price of around 700 Euros for the local market.

If you like I can pass on how this tests goes and maybe that will help you make a decision as to whether a dish of this size or bigger will do the job.

If you want to speak to Billy directly he can be reached on:

Telestarr Ltd
http://www.telestarr.com.mt/
Tel. +356 21 413026

They accept International orders as well and shipping should be very well priced from here to Sicily.

Have a Merry Christmas,

Nick

Hi Nick,
I hope you had a great Christmas day.
I dont know what your system is but for your knowledge I have a 1.5 mt dish with Panasonic 30 and Invacom 0,3.
I can get all Astra 2A north and south beams, Astra 2B only south beam.
With about 70 % reception from all Transborders.
Maybe it could be helpful.
Have a great Boxing Day
Talk to you soon
Ciao

and Nick,
about The prices of Channel Master dishes.
I investigated and there is a 14 % and VAT 20 % to add to that price. That makes prices going up to almost € 3000 and i couldnt have sorted out about the shipping price yet. I think the best option so far is to buy a Patriot Dish, almost as good as Channel Master and much cheaper. I am waiting for a reply from them to see if they can ship it over here and how much will it cost.
The Supral option seems to be quite good as well. Hopefully it will work.
You can tell your installer that im ready to buy the dish from him if that dish will work.
Anyway lets wait and see how it goes before we do any plans.
Ciao

There is also the Famaval 2.4m prime focus dish from Portugal, better than andersen, patriot and dh of the same size.I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this make.It also has extensions designed for it which increases the diameter to 3.1m.

Thanks for that Zorba. This is the dish I am using (I had thought they had
sold me a USA made dish, but on checking with my supplier I learnt different).
I can confirm it works better than other 2.4M dishes used by others in the
same neck of the woods here in Cyprus. I am wondering if extending it to
3.1 m MIGHT (??) pull in BBC + ITV signals from Astra 2D. Maybe (?) you
can advise or comment - thanks,
Geoff

First of all,you need to try the invacom lnb to see if you can get bbc during the day, then see what time you lose it,and then try a pace 2600 if you dont have one already,to improve things, then the extensions.
But I think,because of your location,you will need a 3.8m dish

Well using the 2.4m dish with Invacom 0.3 dB LNB I cannot get any signals at all from Astra 2D, whether with the DSB30 or with a friend's Pace 2600. I am sure you are right, that I need a 3.8m or larger dish.
Cheers
