My System: 1.0m dish |
I have a dedicated 100cm dish in mid-north Germany (Schwerin) and I also have it going in to a multiswitch from a quad LNB. I have a seperate dish with quad LNB for the German channels which are needed for the other flats they are feeding, but the Sky dish is just for our purposes. But the TV outlets in the house are wired up to the multiswitch, so I (preferably) must go through that. I get some channels on Astra 2D but not the good ones. It has been suggested to me that they are on different transponders and are harder to receive, but I don't know what that means for me, apart from that I need to improve something to get them. Would it help to get a different, single LNB for my sky dish ? I don't understand why quads were used anyway, even if multiple sockets need to be fed. Doesn't the multi switch handle sending the seperate channels out ? Neil

Blog Entries: 5 My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Spectrum analyser. | You need a Quattro LNB to feed most multiswitches, although there are a few around now which work with Quad LNBs (Germans seem to call Quattro LNBs Quads). A single will not do, unless you are running it direct to your receiver. Without knowing the spec of the multiswitch and what through loss it has, it is difficult to identify the propble. For your location (East of Hamburg), a 1m dish should be OK, but the setting of the LNB will be crucial with Astra 2D.

My System: 70cm Astra 19 E 85cm Astra 28 E | Hi, QUATTRO LNBs can not be connected to the receiver directly, they must be connected to a multiswitch first QUAD (Switch-as these LNBs are named correctly) LNBS can directly be connected to the receiver since they have an in-build multiswitch. Have a nice day Andreas

I had a 1.25m dish fitted (at great expence) but now we have sky. Reception is ok but suffers in bad weather. We get the BBC and ITV channels but not much more (no sky subscription). Thanks to people on this forum for their help.

My System: Famaval 3,1, IP9000HD plus other FTA and Linux boxes - Astra 1&2, Hotbird, Hispasat | Just a tip for anybody installing a system using a quattro LNB and multiswitch in a fringe area. I have had good results using Jesmay multiswitches as they have individual variable attenuators for each of the four inputs.
