Ive never seen any reports from that far south, but you will probably be looking at somewhere between 3.5 and 5m diameter.

Possibly bigger - 3m+ is needed for the Canary Islands, and they are quite a long way north of you. It all depends how fast the signal drops of southwards.

If you find out be sure to let us know

Hi,
I would say you would probably be struggling to get a reception of Astra 2D with even a 5 metre prime focus dish, because in the Caneries they need at least a 3 metre dish to get most Horizontal transponders also they do not get many vertical transponders at all with dishes of that size. But you could have a sidelobe in your favour, which will give you a chance of receiving most of the Horizontal transponders, you will not know until you try. I suggest you try with a cheap 2.4 metre dish first and see if you can get a few transponders or not, if you can then move up to a 4.5 or 5 metre dish. Do not try first with a 5 metre dish, because they are very expensive. But if you want Astra B south which carries Channel 4 and many other SKY channels. I would say a 2.4 metre dish should get you many of the sky channels on that satellite. But for Channel 5 which is on Astra b north, you will probably not get.

A much cheaper solution for you would be for you to use a slingbox if you want uk tv. Just ask someone in the uk is it o.k for you to connect it to their aerial system and their internet. Then the box will stream freeview uk tv channels to you anywhere in the world.

Regards Stu

C4 is on the North beam.

I was mistaken. Yes C4 is on Astra 2A north beam. So i would now say that a person who wanted to receive channel 4 would be struggling to receive it in Cape verde even with a 5 metre dish.

3.7m in the canaries does not pull everything that is available in the uk but its enough for most....from what i have been told a 5m+ is what you will need and a 2.4m to receive the same as what we get here on a 1.3m here

I was looking at this two years ago. You cannot pick up much if dish is under 5m. The best option was to go with the South African 68east Multichoice package, excellent for sport and lots of extra UK tv.

There is a guy in SAL that can provide an install, 90cm dish.

Package is quite a fair price.

I hope you don't mind, but I spotted an impossibility. "You can't see" 68,5* East neither from Cape Verde nor from the Canaries I am gutted myself. However, you have probably meant Multichoice in C-band from 36*E; I understand that

My System: 30W,7W,13E,16E,19E & 28E Dishes everywhere Darkbox 2008HD Sly+ V3

Hotbird 13 East is available on a 90cm dish in Lanzarote (Canary Islands, the most easterly and northern island) no problem - But would normally install a 1.0M.

For sky Italia here I would put a 1.2
