Pace 2600 Software

For all those persons still having probs with the 2600 software update, then the news is good. The normal stream seems to be updating them overnight. I've managed to do 4 in the last 3 nights - Just another 2 to go . Forced update so far doesn't seem to do the job yet.

Hope that helps

Cheers

That will be fine, no need for 501, but some people reckon it makes a difference. BTW Forced update is also working so try that aswell.

Below a recommended procedure for a Forced Software Download (I'm sure other poeple do it other ways - eg some say disconnect the mains for a minute then jump to item 6):

(1) Put box into Standby.

(2) Remove the viewing card (optional .. some say it helps)

(3) Press and hold the Back-up button on the Digibox, not the remote control
.

(4) Whilst holding the Back-up Button, switch off the power to the box at the mains - either with the switch on the socket or by removing the plug.

(5) Count to ten slowly.

(6) Keep pressing that Back-up button and put the power back on to the box;

(7) When all four lights appear on the Digibox, release the Back-up button If your Digibox is connected by SCART, there will be a message on the screen stating an update is taking place and that it can take 10 minutes. However, it can take longer.

(8) When the box goes back to a single red light, leave it at least a full minute before taking it out of Standby using the Sky button on your remote control.

(9) The box will switch to channel 998 - the Sky demo channel (it may say Searching for Listings - if so just wait until it finishes).

(10) When that clears, do a Services, 4, 5 to check to see the Operating System Version and/or EPG Software Version numbers have updated (the Model Number may also have changed)

Step 4 is necessary because if you power off first and then press "Back-up", it does not clear all the old software so follow the above exactly for the most reliable results.
A word of warning - if things go wrong with a Forced Software Download, you could potentially ruin your digibox. I take no responsibility for any damage you might cause to your receiver.... DO NOT TRY A FSD IF YOU DON'T HAVE A GOOD SATELLITE SIGNAL.

Cheers

Update to an old thread: my Pace 2600 CI updated itself this afternoon, jumping a number of versions to 3.5.3
I have tried forced updates for a couple of months but the update stream for this model was not active.
If any 2600s on old software do not self- update in the next day or so, try a forced update, subject to the warnings above from Bignick.

My System: Pace 2600C1 1.1 metre offset Smart Titanium 2nd Edition universal LNB

Yes, my Pace 2600C1 auto updated itself at 14:00 GMT today from EPG 3.4.4b to 3.5.3. Unfortunately a second Pace 2600C1 failed to update and is still on EPG 3.2.11. Tried a forced download to no avail. Will leave it connected as before to see what happens over the next few days but I guess it could turn out that the box is jiggered.

Well, whaddya know. I have a 2600 sitting next to my sky plus box and use it now and again if the bbc breaks up on the sky plus.
After reading this thread I noticed the 2600 was in standby ,so I switched it on and ,you've guessed it,its got the new software.

It is good news as a Pace 2600 which is stuck on old an old software version is likely to have corrupt firmware.

My System: Pace 2600C1

I am a new member and have just bought two Pace 2600C1. One says epg 3.5.3 and model 1.0.75 while the other says epg 3.4.4a with model number 1.0.67. Is the second box actually a 2600 and will the model number update with an epg update to 3.5.3?

Any help appreciated for a newbie!

If it is in a silver case and looks identical to the other one, it has to be a 2600. There is a label underneath. The second one should update if you connect it to a dish, either now or when the software update stream is next active.

Been trying to force updates on my Pace 2600 for months. It's been stuck on 3.2.11. Updated itself today at around 2pm to 3.5.3.

Left box on standby overnight. This morning model number and epg version updated. Plugged in for twelve hours and an update received.

Thanks to previous posters.
This thread helped me with my issue.

I've mangaged to get all my "junk" stock updated - good job I didn't bin them.

No luck with the 2400 or 2500 though. Still stuck on 3.2.11
