Sky HD and Echostar 3000ip

Hi

I think I will take my Sky HD box with me in my Motorhome like I used to with the Digibox but I am concerned that the HD box will consume vast amounts of juice and flatten my batteries quickly. Does anyone know the current draw of this box compared to the bog standard please?

Does anyone think the HDD might be a bit vulnerable?

I also have had the HD low volume issue others have reported and I have lost 'auto aspect ratio control' when using HDMI cable to connect to LG37LC - anyone else? I've asked LG if the firmware needs updating, but sadly no reply.

My Echostar 3000ip needs a software update, it won't update OTA and I have been unsuccessful when connecting it to my PC. I think I read somewhere that it needs to be connected to everything at the same time -i.e. you have to take/connect the PC to the up & running 3000 for a successful upgrade (if true, something Echostar failed to mention)

Is there a website with latest 3rd party software/channels for the 3000?

Cheers

No updates OTA for the Echostar now for some time.

Use the echoloader software from _www.echostareurope.com, connect with a null RS232 cable to your PC.

The latest (and last) receiver software is v.1100

Not much happening now regarding channel update software. Best to either scan in TP's yourself, or use the Setedit program and add them there from somewhere like the Satcodx site.

For a successful update does everything need to be connected i.e fully connected and operating box simultaneously connected to PC?

Not quite with you - just leave everything connected whilst the data is being transferred, don't touch anything on the PC or STB. Otherwise the data may be corrupted.

BTW, I've corrected the thread title as you had 'Echostar 300ip' - no such animal

If you have any other queries on the Echostar, it would be better to use THIS thread.

Thanks Llew

I read somewhere that the Box has to be fully connected and operational when attempting a PC software update. i.e. Connected to dish, powered up, receiving a signal, picture on TV screen AND connected to PC via NM cable.

I have always attempted update by taking the box to the PC i.e. no dish con, no tv picture etc. just NM & power cables. This has always failed.

Could be a duff eeprom though?

As I don't have a laptop it means 'taking the mountain to Mohamed'.

I am happy for Mods to move thread if they want.

Cheers

There's no need for your STB to be connected to anything other than your mains power and null lead to your PC when loading data with the Echoloader.

What messages if any are you getting? Do you have 'DLoad' on the STB's front panel or just moving dashes (waiting for connection)?

Remember you have to have the STB in standby before you do a download, then press standby on to start the transfer.
