My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

You can order a Freesat card from Sky, but you will need a Sky digibox to activate the card, nothing to stop you buying a cheap one on Ebay.

Yes, it is not necessary as CH4 HD is a Free to view channel, not sure if it is needed on a Sky HD box though.

hope this makes sense. I have a box and a card that had films on etc but was cancelled abt 1 year ago question is will this card still show the stuff i want ie freesat from sly. appreciate that if it does still work it will need leaving in the box for afew days to update. if it does work it will save me the 20£ for a new card

It depends what you mean by 'cancelled'.

I had a Sky subscription that finished approx 2 years ago, with the 6 mix plus movies. I phoned up Sky and cancelled all my subscriptions, and YES the card still works alright as FTV. So, so should yours. As you say, the card may have fallen asleep, so it may take a little while to wake it up. LOL

The only problem you are going to have is that you have no Sky equipment, as the card will need popping back into a Sky box once in a while, as the Diablo can't do it.

I don't know what the period is though, I'm sure I have had mine in my TM for over a month now, and it is still going strong.

Yes, that will work, if you pick the correct transponder range and satellite on the Arion, alternatively, send to 28E and turn the Arion OFF. Better still, get a twin LNB.

Not sure, one of the installers on here who does Sky will know. One of the reasons why I suggested leaving the Arion in the OFF state, was so that the Sky box could do its thing (whatever that is) with access to whatever it needed.

By the way I have had my Sky card in my box for 6 weeks now, I just checked, not sure if the box updates the card or it hasn't needed one yet.

I think it can do bits at a time, so if you can see ch5, it just means ch5 is done, there is also Sky 3 and a few others. I only use it for ch5 and ch4 HD.

When actiavting these cards for customers I always leave in sky box on ch4 over night & by the morning 99% of the time, the card is back on again.

My System: AB IPbox 9000HD, only a fixed dish for now..

I recently got a s*y box that had not been used for 3 years!, a Panasonic TUDS840. An expired contract card was left in it. I just left it on standby overnight, and the card came to life, ch5, 5US, sky3 etc all now available. It doesnt matter if you leave it on or not, just leave the mains plugged in. I then did a forced update, now it works a treat.
Now I want to find out what software I need to use the s*y card in my AB IP box 9000HD. Anyone any idea? It has 2 card slots, and a slot for a CAM.

Not all receivers are capable, or don't have the software support to do it.

It is not on my list of receivers that do work with a Sky card.

What you do, is find the support forum for your receiver, and download the latest patch for it, or whatever method is used to update it. If it doesn't work, then it won't. You would have to stick a Diablo in it instead.
