Not getting BSkyB HD with DM800 - why?

Hi everyone, hope you can help me.

Here`s my setup: Dreambox DM800 / Nabilo 0.8 / community dish to 28.2E.
Latest transponders uploaded from http://satellites-xml.eu/ .

On automatic search all SD channels plus BBC HD and LUXE HD are found and working - but none of the Sky HD channels appear in the list.

With manual search on the HD transponders no channels are found either, no signal.

Can anyone give me some help what I need to do to be able to get the HD channels? Has it got anything to do with those services being DVB-S2?

Thanks all for your help.

Hi Tom,

thanks for the settings, replaced mine with those and rescanned.

Unfortunately, still no services from the Sky HD transponders. During the full automatic scan it scans through but would not pick up any HD service (othar than BBC and Luxe HD).

Any other ideas?

May be obvious, but in the Service menu, have you set System to DVB-S2 and Modulation to QPSK (for Sky HD channels)

Hi LLew,

obvious as it may seem but there is no such setting anywhere in my System or Service or Tuner etc. menus.

I searched the net high and low and found something that may be relevant: check tuner info!

The tuner in my DM800 is an ALPS BSBE1 C01A/D01A (DVB-S) as reported by the system.

Could it be that this is a DVB-S tuner only???

You must have an hd tuner otherwise you could not view any HD broadcasts

Well, I would have never thought that you need to check the tuner type when buying a HD receiver. Who would???

Besides, how come that I have perfect reception of BBC HD and Luxe HD? That thing was very misleading. So it looks like there are different HD tuners for the DM800?

Anyway, my best bet is to replace this tuner - after two weeks of use...
Since it was a private sale I don't think warranty applies to me.

BBC HD and Luxe HD are DVB-S channels, with HD video.

I suppose you learn as you go...

Thanks for everyone for helping to clear this up.

Now if only I could find the right store for the right tuner....

Hi everyone,

just a confirmation. Having bought and installed the ALPS BSBE-2 tuner all HD channels automagically appeared in the channel list after a retune.

It was the wrong tuner that caused the HD problems, as you suggested.

Thanks for your help.

Excellent. Having an HD Dreambox without an HD tuner is like having a Lamborghini with a Trabant engine

BBC HD and Luxe HD only require a standard DVB-S Tuner. no DVB-S2 required.

I have the same problem, except my tuner is an Apls BSBE2 (DVB-S2), yet i'm only able to pull in the DVB-S1 HD channels.

Any ideas? Cheers.
