Communal Dish Problem

Hi,

Having problems getting full use of SKY HD with a communal Dish.
I live in a new build block of flats, the satellite switch with the outlets is in my loft, i have been up to have a look but all of the ports are taken which i don't understand because in my block there are 6 flats but on the switch there are 12 ports - all used up. So its difficult to find out which cables are actually being used.
I already bought a reel of cable thinking there was free ports.
I'm just wondering about finding a solution, i'm thinking that installing my own dish just outside a window is the best idea.
I know that personal dishes arent allowed here, but it isn't enforceable at all, the factoring company can only request that you remove it.

Any advice would be very welcome

Cheers

By the sound of it, each flat has two satellite feeds (6 flats, 12 outputs).

What exactly are your problems?

You also need to check that the system isn't under a maintenance cover which could be invalidated if tampered with.

Hi,

The problem is that i need 2 feeds for the HD box, only one is available.
I thought that aswell , 6 flats 12 outputs, but i can't seem to find where the cables lead to. I guess i'll just have to have another good look, see if theres any free cables.

Have a word with the management company if it's a new build /system.

My System: Various digiboxes, broken Nokia 9800S, numerous analogue boxes. My lovely little lappy, HP Omnibook 6100

Have you taken your wall plate off yet to see if there's a second unused cable rolled up inside the wall box?
