Thomson SKY-HD STB Overview

Sky InfoText Rg">Thomson will initially manufacture the Sky HD Box.

Sky InfoText Rg">It will be capable of receiving and recording all of the new HD channels as well as all Sky InfoText Rg">the existing SD channels.

Sky InfoText Rg">Sky HD uses MPEG4 technology.

Sky InfoText Rg">In addition it will have all of the functionality of a standard Sky+ receiver (subject to a Sky InfoText Rg">Sky+ Subscription).

Sky InfoText Rg">It supports Dolby 5.1 sound and has a new design of remote control.

Sky InfoText Rg">The Sky HD box has been designed to reduce the audible noise during use. It has two on-board cooling fans to protect against overheating: due to the increased processing power and 300Gb hard drive.
