I lost interest in Sky Italia subscription, as there is a limit to how much I can pay extra for the overhead.
The problem now is that the Cinema option is not offered anymore (unless this is a valid sub inside Italy).
Another problem is that getting the options is even harder, as you need a valid Italian certificate, perhaps a VAT or something.
So your best choice is to have Mondo+sport+calcio ONLY for about 900 euro including receiver (to keep, not on lease), or 800 euro just for the card.
If you are interested, send me a PM and I will give you a link to website that offers this. But you probably know all the offers on the net by now.
No idea about what can happen if you go to Cicily. You would need to arrange that someone would let you have valid sub before you travel.
I would imagine that satellite shops there are probably obliged not to do any monkey business with tourists, as they might lose their Sky Italia license.
Apart from that, enjoy your holiday.

They are NOT included.
You will need to pay more and also for the HD receiver.

For information purposes:

RAI UNO, RAI DUE AND RAI TRE are no longer fully visible with a Sky Italia subscription. When a programme is scrambled due to rights issues it is no longer viewable!
There is even talk of RAI leaving the Sky Italia package completely at the end of the year.
You will need the tivu'sat card and decoder to view Rai 24/7.

Make sure you wait a bit, there are no decoders in the shops here yet!!
First 2 will be a Humax combo 9000 and an I-CAN 1110SH, the latter not expected to hit the shops till september. Cards will only be sold with decoders for the time being (A CAM is expected in 2010) and it will be impossible to activate the card without having an Italian TV Licence!

Hi all im new to these forums...

I was thinking of purchasing Skyitialia Hd full package + the HD receiver a online website. It will cost 1500 pounds. (which is expensive).

My question is i live in the middle east - in Bahrain, Sky italia does work here. What i want to know is if i buy this package with its receiver will it work for sure? and what if i dont get the Hd reciever and only buy a card and i buy a seperate HD reciever eg. humax hd or etc.. will it work on it?

Forgive me if i've posted this in the wrong page.

Your help is very important to me.

I think that it would be better for you if you buy the whole package (smartcard+Sky Italia HD receiver). This way you have only one contact person to blame if anything goes wrong.
Take into consideration the transportation charges in case of problems.
Add to the cost any taxes that you may have to pay when the package arrive.
Try to split the shipment so that you receive the precious smartcard in a separate envelope to avoid the chances of anything going wrong with the shipment (theft, for example).
And if possible get them to declare only the HD receiver cost and not the smartcard, as it is a service and not a harware.
What I mean is, if you sign up (theoratically) a five year contract, then the cost might be 5000 pounds and you would pay a lot of tax on this (at least in this country), while you should only pay for the plastic card which is about 10 pounds.
You might find a cheaper shop if you look harder.
If you ask me, it is not worth paying this much more than in Italy.
Check if this includes the Cinema option. I bet it isn't.

I dont have to pay any taxes in my country. So thats not an issue. plus to recieve the package ill be using aramex so that wont be a major thing.?

You are lucky then.
I have no idea who or what aramex is. If they are a courier, just make sure the package is well insured.
You can try to pay less for the order because you are entitled to VAT exemption, being outside the EU.

I gave up on this package last year because of the ridiculous cost. Now I find the Polish package Cyfra+ much better suited to my interests and pocket.

From where did you hear that they were changing the cards??

Sky Italy use the older card version,then the old yellow houscard,maybe its a roumer on the net,but the say,that murdock,will change every card within a time of 5 years,now this time should be over for sky italy!

when,the yellow house card exactly swtich off?
first i read end of august,now we have september,maybe the change take more time,i would say,end of october ,the yellow housecard is history!

must this card returned to sky?
or when the keep it will sky charge any fees for it?
