Sky Italia HD: are UK Sky reeceivers compatible?

I have an absolute beginner question and thank you in advance for your help.
I have a regular subscription to Sky Italy HD but I am still using the basic Sky receiver without taking benefit of the HD programs: until recent past I was living in Italy and moving to UK I managed to have the proper setup to keep looking at Sky Italy.
I was considering, eventually, to get a HD skybox and have been offered a Thomson Sky+HD with 300GbHD.
Is this compatible with Sky Italy?

I've just noticed this thread after posting on a similiar yet different one.
Complete newbie here. I have Italian ID and could subscribe to a Sky Italia package which would be a lot cheaper than the UK suppliers; could I use a Sky Italia HD card on Dreambox or similiar receiver in the UK? If the answer is yes, could you let me know what you would recommend in the way of a good HD receiver,

I am no expert but you must be able to run a Sky Italia card in a dreambox as even the new Sky cards can run in a dreambox.
