Watching 2nd TV via Sky+HD

Excuse my ignorance of sky boxes but my daughter wanted me to connect her sky+ hd box (Thomsons) to another room so my granddaughter could watch one of the kids channels while her parents were watching another channel on the main tv.

Read thro the forum and thought I only had to run a coax from the rf2 output on the +hd box to the 2nd tv. Did this and tuned the second tv into carrier 68 and got the picture ok. When I did this I thought that because the box had 2 tuners the rf2 output would have been the channel that the pvr was on but it appears to be the same channel as the one the main tv is on. Tried using rf1 but that to was the same channel as the main tv.

Am I doing something wrong or is it not possible to do what I want ?

As a matter of interest I tried to access the installer menu via services-systemsetup - 01 but nothing happened.

All suggestions welcome

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 6 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/10E/13E/16E/ 19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

If you want to watch 2 different channels you will need a second digibox.

The installer menu is services-4-0-1-select

Thanks Analoguesat. Must have misunderstood the various threads I read. Was wondering why my daughter kept on saying it could not be done!!!!

I take it connecting a magic eye to the 2nd tv would not be a problem?

Shouldn't be no, you will need a Sky HD remote to go with the magic eye instead of the standard one.

Another option would be to go for multiroom, if you felt it was worth it.

Thanks Robbo. Think my daughter is not too bothered about giving her daughter control of the box so will probably leave things as they are.

On the general restrictions of sky boxes I always knew there was a reason why I never ever got one !!!!!!!!!!!
