My System: sky+ 160 and std digibox in same room. Global SPC4 connected via RF2 on both boxes to lft box - then downlinked to 3 further tvs.
Sky Magic Eye Problems

I hope someone can help - so thanks in advance.

I have a Sky+ 160 and a standard digibox in the same room. These are linked via an SPC4 connected to the RF2 output on each box to a loftbox. Three further TV,S are connected via the loftbox - each has a magic eye connected.

My problem is that the Magic Eye will only control the Sky+ 160 Box from the 3 other rooms. They will not operate the Std Digbox remotely.

I hve checked everything is normal ie both RF Channels are set to on etc but having no luck controlling both boxes.

Am I missing something?

One again thanks in advance.

What is an SPC4 when it is at home ?

Have you tied swapping over the two incoming connections to it ?

My System: Various digiboxes, broken Nokia 9800S, numerous analogue boxes. My lovely little lappy, HP Omnibook 6100

Following the link and reading the blurb perhaps this has something to do with it ?

The only constraint is that once a remote control has been programed to operate with one of the set-top boxes, it will not operate any of the other set-top boxes within the system.
This suggests to me that a magic eye can only, effectively, be used for one box at a time. The SPC4 seems to be more of a director rather than a combiner to my mind.

Can a BSkyB remote be programmed to uniquely operate one receiver ?

Are you using two remote controls? i.e one for each box, as the blurb suggests you need to.

Only via the SPC4, it is a router of sorts.

I've had no problem running a Sky and Sky+ box together on a Global 4 way system. I still have some completely transparent four way splitters that act nicely as combiners for the RF2's, with the aerial input added on input 3.

My System: Motorised ASC 1.2m,1224 Supermount with C120 Invacom Quad LNB with Matched Feedhorn.

You have to program the remote to work i dont have instructions to hand but

I'm gonna guess sky plus box is in the first (lowest number) port either 0 or 1 on spc4 and thats why you can control this box. You need to program 2nd 3rd and 4th box remotes when they are added to spc4

What you need to do is see what number port std sky box is in they are numbered then its something like tv (one flash) select and blue(2 flashes) the std sky box port number then select(1 flash) on remote- this may not be right but it explains in the destructions you maybe able to download em from somewhere online

Thanks for all your replies folks. Kenny, you were spot on with your comments - both boxes are now working fine from all locations.

Once again thanks.

My System: sky
magic eye problems

Hi

Hiope somebody can help. Have sky + installed in living romme and have had it connected to bedroom. Have a magic eye in bedroom. The problem is that it does not work oall the time.

If I have been watching sky downstairs for a couple of hours then go upstairs to watch sky I am unable to change channels? The red light flashes on the magic eye when I press buttons on the controller but brings nothing up on screen??

If I use controller upstairs when sky is first switched on it works fine?

Any suggestions? Do I need a specific magic eye for sky plus??

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

As it works some of the time, it seems fairly certain that all you are suffering from is a poor connection somewhere.

Check the plug connected to RF2 on the Sky+ Box.

Check the connections on the Magic Eye itself.

Check the connection to the remote TV.
