My System: Sky pace box
Upgrading to Sky Plus

I have a bog standard Sky Pace box, and a subscription to Sky, but I want to upgrade to Sky Plus. I've got a quad LNB feed, and I intend to buy a Sky Plus box off Ebay or similar. My question is this:
Can I just unplug my old Sky box, plug in my new Sky Plus box, put the Sky card in and it will just work? Or do I have to notify Sky of the change and pay them something?

Apologies if it's a daft question, but we've all got to start somewhere.

Thanks.

Hi mate, you will need to contact sky, they will take details of your +box and will activate it in approx 4 hrs, you won,t have to pay anything

regards Dave

My System: Motorised ASC 1.2m,1224 Supermount with C120 Invacom Quad LNB with Matched Feedhorn.

A sky plus indeed needs the quad and 2 coaxial feeds, you will have to ring sky to pair or marry the card to the new Sky Plus reciever- there is no extra charge

My System: Technomate 6800 HD. Motorised 88 cm dish Installed by Robbo Mac computers

Watch out the box isn't one of the batch (Assuming they have rectified it) that has the fan running all the time even when in standby before you accept it.
Its why so many are appearing on fleabay

Thanks for the help

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, all I've got to do now is get hold of a Sky Plus box, connect it up, ring Sky for the pairing and it should be fine.

Thanks for taking the time to help, its appreciated.

All Working Fine

Just to close off this thread, I got a Thomson Sky Plus box from a relative, connected it to my tv, connected the two feeds from the LNB, put in my existing Sky card,, then rang Sky.

Got a very helpful Scottish lass who took my Sky card details, the make and serial number of the new box, then activated the 'Plus' function.

Cost me nothing, all done in ten minutes, and it works fine.
