Got SKY+ in recently, can I take a feed from the new LNR to the old box to receive FTA channels, and if so why do SKY ask £30 for a card?

Hi, yes will be ok for all FTA programming. The card your referring to will be a freesatfromsky card needed for the FTV (free to view) channels.

Sky3
Fiver / +1
Five USA / +1
ITV (6 regional)
Ch4+1 on EPG.

Depends on your viewing requirements but there's only really FTA or official subscription available or will be very soon.

The FTV channel five is currently mapped to EPG 105. FTA version available on 10.773h but restricted to the spot beam. You'll need an active fsfs card or deactivated subs card. Not sure if this helps.

C5 UK is both fta & ftv!

There are 4 C5 sub regions. One is mapped to the Astra 2D fta version. The other three are mapped to the ftv widebeam versions.

Therfore in Italy if you have a Region 2 card which covers:
most of England south of Manchester EXCEPT London,
Wales
Northern Ireland

you have a problem as you are mapped to the difficult Astra 2D version

If your using a digibox (as you've mentioned above), these do not support DISEqC 1.0 required for LNb switching.

A/B switch possibly but a digibox isn't of much use away from 28e.

Didn't think of it but another scart lead should do the trick. .,HOWEVER,the digibox has lost Channel 5, and my BBC1 NI,BBC2 NI, and UTV have been replaced by BBC 1 London, BBC2 England, AND ITV Central W. Any ideas on how to get the origional settings back? Thanks!

This is another reason Sky want you to use the Sky freesat card. It will give you your region specific channels. I spent the £20 and got one so I could watch my bits whilst the wife had both feeds of the Sky+ boy tied up.

But why Channel 5?
If I paid the £20 would I get the RTE channels?
