Sky+ No 2nd Signal

HI NEW MEMBER JUST FITTED SKY+ BOX GOT OFF EBAY AMSTRAD DRX180 PUT NEW QAUD LNB IN TWO CABLES SEEMS TO WORK FINE BUT GET NO SIGNAL ON THE 2ND LINE WHEN I GO TO SIGNAL TEST. I HAVE UPGRADED TO SKY+ (sky was not very happy about the phone line not being connected) SEEMS TO RECORD NOT ON THE TIMER BUT THATS FOR LATER TO SORT OUT OR IS THIS BECAUSE OF THE 2ND SIGNAL PROBLEM.IF YOU CAN MAKE HEADS OR TAILS OF THIS HELP THANK YOU.

Sometimes the signal indicators can be misleading.

Does it actually do the job. Try watching one programme and recording another. Then record two at once. If it does this okay then don't worry too much at the moment.

PS NO NEED TO SHOUT - lower case is just fine

Sounds like a faulty box, I presume that you have tried swapping the inputs?

Do A software reboot and they should appear. Thats after you know that power is coming in on both cables. To do a software reboot, hold the back up button down on the receiver, then disconnect the power lead form mains while holding the back up button down, count to 10 and put power lead back in until you see info on screen saying software programming, then let the back up button go. Should be ok now, always works for me. Lets know how you get on.

did software reboot still no 2nd signal i record two prgrammes and the signal looks ok thank you record timer does not seem to work but one thing at a time

here we go 2nd signal now gone when i try to record two programmes and watch a different one it says to watch this programme you need to cancel one of the programmes you are recording or something like that.then i can not recieve any signal at all for a short amount of time turn off/on try different channels till it comes back the lnb wotsit in the systems thing shows 9.70 on one and 10.00 on the other is this right any ideas thank you

No, it should say 9750 low band and 10600 high band.

no every thing look fine there but the record timer does not work rigth and i can not record two programmes at once do i need to contract sky or can one of you guys help with it or is it the amstrad drx 180 common fault

Still sounds to me like the box is faulty, but last resort is to go into Services/ System Setup/ 01Select/Full System Reset.

If that doesn't work, then the box probably needs repairing.

thanks alot mate i think i may of done this allready is it the same as holding down the left/right buttons and turning it on thing if not i will try it or send it back i have a 3 month money back no problem .

No, it isn't the same as a software download, this purges the harddrive and recording history. But I think that you will probably end up sending it back, remember to remove your card when you do.

plus if a recording does not start or anythink to do with record it says no signal being received may be its a sky problem there end but may be not may i have to look into a technomate but will i have to change the dish and do you need a subscription of any sorts with them i am begining to hate sky

You can record two programmes, but I think you have to watch one while its been recording.

No, even Sky can't force you to watch a programme.

It is the box, it is because you have no second input, or at least the box thinks that you don't.

Think you better send the box back. You would get a message to contact sky if recording wasnt activated on your card.
