The telephone connection conumdrum

This connecting your box to the phone line is a bit of a pain!

Can anyone advise on this scenario:

Existing box more than 12 month old connected to phone line.
New Sky plus will be connected to phone line.
Old box goes upstairs with multiroom subscription

Does old box, now upstairs, need to be connected to a phone line too?

Yes it does I'm afraid, it's the only way they have of ensuring that both cards are being used in the same household.

Plus both boxes have to be connected for the life time of the multiroom subs - theres no 12 month requirement here

Thanks for confirming the obvious!
I think I will give it a year and then drop multi
room in favour of freeview.
Sky plus for effectively nothing under the cricket
scheme I referred to in a previous post does however
seem to be a good deal.

Well its arrived and set up. After a few days I begin to
wonder what we did without it. Not a tape in sight and
everyone happy.

Pace 80Gb and multi room for only an extra tenner a month.
Still one LNB output spare too.

Check out the ECB offer

When I phoned up nobody asked me anything at all about cricket!

My System: Humax 5400Z + DISEQ 4 switch, + 12V Switch + Diseq 2 Switch allowing 6 LNBS - Hotbird, Astra, Astra2D, Hyspasat, Thor, Telecom 2d Sky Digital - Astra2d Telecom 2D SkyDsl

Why not buy a PVR box, I have a samsung PVR unit it's good, but for the full sky plus style capability I am still investigating a dragon cam.. ciao - and for your upstairs - try a video sender instead or use the 2nd output from your sky box

As far as I know, there is not a PVR out there, which gives the flexibility offered by the Sky+ box for the Sky package, the Dragon CAM also does not update the card.

agree with Rolf here.

Sky+ can record 2 channels while watching a third!!!
or
Record 2 channels and watch something you recorded earlier off the hard drive.
the Link option..
go on holiday.... the wife doesnt want to miss Corrie, click the first episode to record and click link... now the sky box will record every epidode of corrie till you come home

must admit, i nearly went for a PVR and ended up with sky+... and im glad, its excellent!!

Multiroom is great too, because as well as the options above ie, watch 1 channel while recording 2 other channels...... the wife can watch another different channel upstairs too

Angry Telephone connection

Please help
I am very disgruntled just bought an additional box off Ebay expecting to be able to set this up at the other residence. No showing off, I where I work during the week has accommodation as part of the deal and wanted to be able to take my card to my home at weekend and accommodation during the week.
Lets face it can't be at 2 boxes with 1 card at the same time. Any options? If not any other satellite options other than sky at low cost?

Your card can only be married to one box, so other than carrying a box back and forth i cant see a solution.

however, your card will work in any box, but it wont work with the premium channels, you will just get everything other than Sport, Movies, Disney etc.

Please correct me here if I'm wrong, but you can't watch a channel while recording 2 channels. The Sky+ box only has 2 tuners...

My System: Sky+ v2 (120Gb); DM7020Si*motorised; PC/S2-3200

there have been freak reports of this happening - but you have to basically get a channel off the same TP you're recording from IIRC.....
