Anyone know the best deals on a Sky+ box for an existing subscriber?

My parents video has broken and they want a new one (they have a lot of tapes).

I have given them one I had.

I would like them to get Sky+ (my dad is 84) - he loved the GameBoy I bought for his 60th birthday and he uses a Mac everyday!

His Sky account is years old and he takes all the sport channels.

They do Sky+ for £89 for new subscribers but it £199 for existing! He doesn't want a multi room system.

Would he be best to threaten to cancel and see what they say?

Any advice appreciated.

Could be worth a try GB. Obviously your dad would not need to pay the £10 per month for Sky+ as he has at least 2 premium channels. But if you go after the £89 offer then the multiroom sub of £10 per month looks the only way. Mind you 12 months at £10 plus £89 = £209 so £199 as a one=off will be cheaper.

Other than that you could try to source a second-hand Sky+ box I suppose.

I have a friend who regularly cancels his S*y every Summer, and is invariably offered a special deal of half price subscription, for the full package, he waits until the football starts then takes up the offer, and saves a fortune !!!!!! When his receiver failed, and they tried to charge him to repair it, he told them he'd sooner not have the service and they repaired it free of charge.
Then there's a friend at work who pays full price for S*y +, full package, never missed a subscription, for years, and never gets any offers or freebies, they even charged for repairing his box.
It does not pay to be a loyal customer with S*y !!!!!!!!!!

new sky plus boxes are 139 on simply digital but you would have to install it yourself though and run an extra feed from the dish

Not a problem, but I would have to buy a new LNB as well then.

Sky are doing a "Best Friend" deal whereby you nominate your BF to get a free Sky+ box and pay only the £10 multiroom sub.
