Sky + Some Channels Stuttering

I Have recently installed my own sky + System, Used Existing cable from old sky +. Some channels are stuttering but not all ( SKY 2, UK GOLD, MTV CHANNELS and a few more), Measured both dish input signals with rover sattelite meter and reading 80+DB the highest i have seen. Any ideas why these channels are jumping. Could it be the signals are to high and may need an attenuator any one have any ideas, Thanks

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

What size dish are you using to achieve those levels?

What is that dB value relative to? as without it, you have no units, just a ratio.

My System: sky +

It is a standard sky mini dish

the meter has 2 bars average power d b v & total quality d b,

The average d b u v is reading approx 80 db and the total quality db is reading 11 - 12 dunno if this helps I dont use the sky meters very often. The radings are all high on all of the astra pre-sets

Well

It is the quality reading that is the important one and yours is too low, perhaps your old cables are older than you think and perhaps damaged, the dish has been knocked, or the lnb is failing

80dBuV is a very high signal level ( equates to approx -28dBm). It may be that the receiver is close to being overloaded, but with a minidish, I would have thought this to be highly unlikely. You could try an attenuator to check. Other than that I agree with Topper.

Starting with the dish alignment (cheapest to check, i.e free), then the LNB (very cheap also £5), and then the cable (50p/metre for decent(ish) stuff in small quantities). Also make sure everything is screwed up tight enough, and that no water has got into the connector on the LNB (it should be protected by a boot or self-amalgamating tape).

Experienced similar problem switching from regular sky to sky+. The cause of mine was RF interference - I just removed the rf lead going to the tv from the back of the sky+ box (rf out 1) and the picture is now great.

From googleing rf interference sky plus, you get suggestions to change the analogue channel number in the deep set services menu which should sort it out - I may do that later but for now just happy to get a clear picture on Sky. This is an informative link:-

Not the same fault annettetech, this is an IF problem (the input to the digibox), yours was an RF problem, the output from the digibox.
