astra 2 d reception

hi to all,
just wanted to inquire to all were to find a updated EIRP for astra 2d in southern italy.
i was told the signal should reach here at 36 dbi and it would require a 3.5 to 4 meter dish.
in rome the archive shows some one with a 2.4 meter v-sat system with a prodeline adjistible scaler rings and a 4 inch feed horn with a f/d of .8 and 39 degrees feed.
i am using QTF 31 and someone is using a different ivacom c120 lnb.
also since this is a free to air on the bbc and itv there should be receivers better and more senstive than the sky box that will go lower that -65
this will be for super sensitive tuner
thanks for all
ralph
ps
how about geting bbc in streaming whats is the quality
looked on the net and got sky news as a trial and it looked bad
thanks
ralph

My System: Prodelin 11ft (335 cm) Windows 2000 XP
62East in Potenza

Recently, 11556 V (62East) increased its power. Ever since the signal quality on my Golden Interstar 8005 receiver has been varying in the interval [49%, 58 %] (corresponding to [6.7 dB, 8.2 dB] on my Ro.v.e.r) better in the morning; the threshold is 40 dB (the fec being 3/4).
During the morning and late afternoon 10980 V and 10.993 V are also watchable, but the signal strenght is much lower. The threshold for 10993 V is 35% its fec being 2/3.
Another good test is Amos2 (middle-east beam) and 60East.

My antenna is a Prodelin 3.35 cm.

Hi Paul682,if you are(or speak) italian you should have a look at this post in an italian forum:
_http://www.digital-forum.it/showthread.php?t=36076&highlight=la+verita%27+su+a stra+2d

where someone from Umbria says he received good pictures on Astra 2D using a 2.4m fortec star. He also added some photos to prove it.

My System: Kabel BW

Maybe it's the same sidelobe that covers also NW Greece. There also we have no sign of the Verticals on "small" 2.40m dishes.

@Gaza_1: As i've seen you're using a LS3000 dish (Standard oder Super feedhorn ?) . I wasn't aware of these cheap dishes made in Turkey before. Could you write some words about their quality to have a comparison between them and the major players Channel Master, Andrew, Patriot, DH, Precision Antenna, Aerial Oy, Irte, Supral, Famaval,...? Of course in a new thread not to get too OT here.

bbc and itv southern italy

hi, we just got back from tweeking the 4 meter dish.
first from 157 cm we got the focus right on to 154.5 cm and the overall signal did come up on the stronger signals.
then we chacked the skew to see if its ok and its on as possible.
then we moved the dish and we got the signal a little stronger.
we looked at the hors low and vert low cables without going through the multi switch, we are using a gray invacom .3 db qtf-031 and this has all for ouptuts different hor-low,vert low,hors-high and vert high.
nothing
we even tried a small line amp just for gp knowing this would generate some noise in the system and we tried 3 different receivers and its no go for the naples lago patria areas.
will have to find someone in the area of rome and see if we can see the dish set up and measure the signal with the EP 313 unaohm and see whats up.
unless there is a magic feed horn other than the original IRTE feed for 4 meter dish that can make it work or a lnb with a .007 bd noise figure or we freeze it to -470 F noise figure is 0.00 db.
have a good day
