Funny Pictures

I have just posted some funny photos (open to discussion) on the jokes page.

Then I got it into my head to ask if we could have a Funny Pics (sub)forum in the Jokes Forum (given that a pic can be funny - but isn't a joke ).

But then I realised that there are already about 400 forums on the board anyway, so I changed my mind

The Q might come in useful for anyone else thinking of asking the same in the future though.

Admin thoughts .....

Glad to see that you're thinking Mark

Now if only we can get some others to think as well.

My System: Sky HD, TM6800HD, Manhattan Plaza ST550 and TM1500 CI+. 1.0m dish and 36v motor, Panasonic DVD HDD recorder and Panasonic video/DVD recorder. Sony G800 HD TV stand/surround system + Sony KDL40W2000. Infinity USB, Elvis, CAS1, CAS2.

I think the football thread showed that their are very different tolerence levels on this forum Mark. So whilst photos can be funny I can see (and have seen elsewhere) that what one person finds funny, another finds distasteful. It's the same with jokes.
Of course moderating these sections falls to the blues and reds so, more work. So I think a specific section for 'funny photos' is really a non-starter.
Well that's my opinion.

Whole bunch of thoughts there Jimbo, hehe. Ne mind, only two more WC06 footy days to go.

IMHO a picture is only a picture: whether its a funny or serious one. Problems only occur when someone tags written thoughts, opinions or inappropriate descriptions to them.

I have come up with a workaround that helps viewers to any posts I make from now on - like, in the title ...

PIC: Cat coughs up 1KG fur ball, or,

MOVIE: That cat again.

Relatively straightforward and understandable, me thinks.

I disagree with that. I've seen pics on forums which, as I said earlier, are distasteful. Ok they may have a comment or two but I don't see how that reduces the impact. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in the least prudish or sqeamiish but I do draw the line at times on what I like to look at or not. Anyway others on here will have different views and my comments are the way I see things. Rolf, for example may feel differently and I have no problem with different views.

Uuumm, might have to agree, LOL.

There was/is an image grab of some footballer appearing to stand on some other player's privates: posted at possibly the most inappropriate time; with an inane comment to boot. That did upset me - and I believe I commented so.

Actually, make that two pics. The other was purportedly of rolf on the beach wearing a fluro-coloured thong-thing. Beards/mustaches and fluro swimwear are just so not right.

I hope both have been removed from sats.uk.

That sort of thing strengthens my point, I don't see picures like that as funny. They just don't do anything for me in any direction. What's the equivilent word for asexual when talking about not having ANY position over such a picture.

Don't remeber it but as above for my reply.

I had a quick look around but I think they've gone.

Don't worry, time permitting I'll always remove stuff which I believe is offensive as well as follow up on stuff if anyone else feels it is.

Jimbo, do my posts make you nervous? With each reply - you've gotten more, quote 'serious' quote, LOL.

I have every respect for Blues and Reds - but, me thinks a chill-pill is needed before the thread finishes.

When anyone starts splitting my post into sub-quotes it makes me nervous

Mind, I did remind myself earlier this evening that a picture is not just a picture - there is a photographer - and they, too, sometimes have an agenda .

No, your posts do not make me nervous Mark. Nothing could be further from reality and as for chill-pills, I don't need one and I think you're going down the wrong track with that one.
I was just replying to the points you made by setting out my responses in an orderly fashion which is the way my mind works. I'm not going to get into an indeterminate saga over it though. I've made my views clear and that's all I will have to say on the subject.
It's your thread so anytime you fancy closing it, it's your perogative.

Muhuhuhahahahahaaaaarrrgggh

I thought the jokes section is for that, posting funnies and jokes and pictures etc, why would you make it even more complicated, Mark? I think it is working fine as it is.

Regarding the pictures and the sensitivity of people: If you would only allow stuff that does not offend anyone at all then we might as well not post anything other than pictures of Donald Duck. Therefore we have the joke section and on top of it it does say "Do not enter if you are easily offended". That should take care of most of the stuff such as green beach phantasies. The rest is down to the moderators sence of taste. It is not possible to make an exact rule of what is ok and what is not.

P.S. did you have your sleep yet?

A defender of the Remote Control Brigade, Sir R can flick channels faster than a Robben dive

you see the trouble is, what one person finds funny, another doesnt... its a very difficult thing to set rules for.

you could tell people not to post anything that would upset anyone else... but what they find mildly funny could be really disgusting..

the kind of pictures i'm refering too are the ones you would find on Rotten.com (ie dead bodies, people with really dodgy bodily function fetishes etc etc)

if it could be done properly, i think a picture section would be great.... but there is always someone who will abuse it, and spoil it for the rest of us.

ive just thought of a really good example.

some danish guy thought a picture of the prophet mohammed with a big bomb for a turban was funny....and we all know what happened there!!

now the danish guy probably thought his sense of humour would be shared with everyone else.... how wrong he was

Have to agree with RD on this one - something like the Mohammed thing could upset a hell of a lot of people on this board. The last thing the mods & admins need is to have to calm down numerous folks due to an "off colour" picture. We are busy enough as it is.

I think T_G has it spot on. The Joke forum has a disclaimer, has some decent posters and makes me laugh. Most who posters who post there are sensible enough to know the limits of considered acceptiblity. But this thread isn't about that.

This thread was (sic) about the 'logical' splitting of the forum into stuff you can look at then laugh and stuff you have to read then laugh, or not. If it makes more work for whoever (can't see why it should), fine by me. I think the jokes forum ranks a little higher than the Bosch Washing Machine Tech Bench*.

I'll continue to use my own fresh & patent pending way of letting people know if its a pic, movie clip, lame joke, etc. Maybe the idea catches on, .

Right, let's get back to something funny.

* At time of writing, the Bosch Tech Bench doesn't exist - I made it up.
