Digg It!

I will own up to writing my fair share of throw-away posts - actually, I think all of us do it at some point (including the blues and reds) - but this 'Thanks' option got me thinking the obvious.

So, I have a Q. Since there is a script that can 'thank' - surely there is a script that can 'not thank'? Plus's and Minus's. Rate or unrate.

I know these Digg sites can be raucous at times, but, rather than simply having a 'thanks' and 'take your thanks away' option - wouldn't it be more democratic to negatively thank a posts that jar, are unfriendly, say nowt new, or, are simply BS?

Basically its a Digg - but I am sure it would be more like a 'rate this post' type thing on sats.uk. As opposed to the current 'rate this user' thanks type thing.

Thoughts?

Mmm

I suppose that depends on whether or not you want to allow negativity on the forum as that can often lead to heated responses and then further trouble. If I were admin I would put it on the NTH pile (nice to have) not the necessary pile.

That last post is out of order. I simply had a Q (more a thought). Nothing more, nothing less. And no seagulls either.

Thought that the original post was tongue in cheek Mark, as was my answer, a little late in the day to become sensitive isn't it?

I fail so see what was tongue-in-cheek about my original Q/thought.

So, I am going to start arse-ing around by submitting a new thread on Site Suggestions? I am not that effing bored. No, really, I am not.

[edit] What I am thinking, though, is pure and effortless obstinance.

OK sorry, in which case I will answer it seriously.

I don't like the idea of a negative rating system at all, don't know about the rest of the admin and mod staff, but I would not want it installed, even if it was available.

Muhuhuhahahahahaaaaarrrgggh
Mooooooooooooh

There is an old Grandmother saying: If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all....(I wish I done that a few times more in my life....)

As Rolf says, I think in many cases it is better not to respond...There have been so many cases I found myself writing something as a reply, only to delete it and go on to the next thing. One day later and it's all forgotten.
You probably find it hard to believe, but there were even one or two aimed at you, Moo (and possibly a few aimed at me )

Anyways, I think it is ok as it is now. The "thanks" button will cut out many of the "Thanks" postings which make many threads longer than they need to be.

I will use it now as much as I can!

I know, thats why i am trying these new things on this site without reading the rules,if there are any.
Concidently I was round a customers house to fix some bad connections and they asked me to complete their installation of a toshiba dvd to a samsung plasma. The dvd had a HD output and was connected to the tv with the hdmi cable but no picture or sound.i went through the menus ten times and could only select ext 1,2 and AV but couldnt find any reference to a HD input.
So i had to give up and reluctantly asked for the instruction book, and they didnt have one ! The only time i ever needed one !
So i left it on Av with the 3 phonos( good picture though)

The real-world of HD, LOL.

I hope you don't mean Video, audio L, Audio R

No, seriously, you did at least leave them with a component setup, correct?

Oh yes I do,I was running late and couldnt be bothered to go down to my car and get a scart lead(the tv was hanging on the wall and it was hard to get the wires up the back).Anyway they were happy with the picture and i told them to go to the shop and get the manual or ask the shop why it doesnt work.
I have to remind my customers that "i do satellites,me".
