Moon launch LRO/LCROSS

Forgot to post about this last week, the successful launch of LRO and LCROSS

Another high impact device, not bunging a fridge into a comet, but the complete final boost stage of the rocket, plus the set of instruments measuring the former, to be smashed into the moon, mid-October.

Apparently the resultant impact could be seen with very powerful binoculars, or a small telescope from the Earth.

LRO stays in orbit to plot the surface, looking for favourable landing sites and potential valuable resources for the next stage of manned exploration.

Fly-tipping, on a big scale, not to mention potentially hazardous for the inhabitants.

Now successfully reversed (arse to tit as it were) so the big lump of metal can hit the moon first.

Some animation and piccys using the brilliant STK software.

Hope the future will give us all more space and some Mars harvesting.

The s ky is out future, we only have some 2 biljons years to go before the sun will say good-bye in a flaming ending.
