My System: Looking to buy equipement for HD Free to air. Probably Technomate 6900
Recommend 4th Satellite + 13e, 19e, 28e

Hi,
I am getting 1 dish pointing at 13e, 19e, and 28e

and a second dish with 1 fixed LNB to point at a satellite i am to choose.

Can you recommend a good satellite to point a fixed dish with 1 LNB at?

I an interested in HD if available.

I have heard recommendations for
1w Thor, as it has a good range of programmes including English.
26e as it has a big range of programmes including English films

Do you have any other recommendations ?

I am a newbie, so have been unable to decyper the information provided in the NDF files. That is, if indeed one is supposed to use these to read the list of available programmes on each Satellite?

Especially if you have recommendations on Sats which include HD transmissions. I will be getting a Technomate 6900, so especially for channels available to be opened for that receiver.

If this information exists already in human readable format, i would appreciate a link to the relevant post.

The TM6900HD is a very good receiver and is well supported. You would also need to download the "Darkman_TMLoader_ 187" to update it. Obviously, for best all round, a motorized dish is best. I think that Thor on 1W would be your best bet if you dont go motorized. Just in passing, to get the majority of chans on Thor, the "Diablo cam ver. 2.3" (at this time) would be handy if you can afford to get one.

Best of luck m8

Thanks for your replies and suggestions!

I will investigate what a 'Diablo Cam ver 2.3' is and will certainly look into it. It's a big big new world for a newbie and lots to learn ;-)

Thor on 1w seems to be the Satellite i have heard most recommendations for.

If anyone has fresh suggestions, please keep them coming.

I would love to be able to pickup up Irish channels RTE's from Satellite either using Cams or Patches, and that would save me another outlay for a Digital aerial and booster to pick them up.
