Technomate 6900 super - newbie - how to patch ??

HI

I have Texhnomate TM-6900 SUPER , But not sure how to patch it ,

ive downloader the latest magic patch and the loader ,and patched the firmware..

but it says you need to use RS232 CABLE for the key loader..

, i have one but none of my computers have a RS232 port , i have tried to use a rs232 - usb convertor , but the Technomate is not being recognized or com ports found even with software installed for the rs232.

is there anyway of uploading the loader into the receiver via a USB pen drive ect .. I have even tried to connect the PC to the receiver via usb port and network port but still nothing...

..There must be many other people out there without a RS232 PORT.

Many thanks

Gary (..NEWBIE)

You do not need the null modem cable.
Use a usb stick.
Download the latest patch on your PC and unzip / unrar it copy it to the stick.
Plug the stick into the technomate and go to the usb menu.
select if it is a key patch or operating system patch and away you go.

My System: Technomate TM6900 HD Combo Super PVR Ready 1.2 Channel Master with 0.3 Inverto Quad LNB on C120 Andrews feedhorn motorised with a Jaeger 12" actuator
Software Update

Just read that I can update my 6900 using the USB facility which is good news!

I have just begun to set up my receiver on a motorised 1.2 Channelmaster dish of 1995 vintage!

I note that a new version 6.64 of the software is available for the 6900

Can anyone tell me if the saved satellite positions and the saved channels will be overwritten with the new software or will only the operating system be updated?

I really don’t want to start over again.

There must be a way of saving what I have before I try to update but the manual that comes with the machine is very vague and poor on these issues.

Maybe somebody has a link to source where I can get some better instructions?

You can save (download) your channel lists etc if you go to menu / usb/ you will see options on the bottom to upload / download.

I am fairly sure when you patch the machine it does not change your favorite or channel lists just the operating system. You should be patching with the operating system then the softcam files.

My System: technomate 6800

Hi being a serious newcomer to the world of satelite can I ask where you got the patch from and how do you use it. I have the 8600 which is running the same software. What are the benefits of the patch? Hint of a web site would be helpful as i am trying to search through the kaos.
cheers

Software Update

I found the updated software at this site

_http://www.technomate.com/software_updates.php

I used a USB stick just like ptichard quoted above to update the receiver and it worked a treat for me.

In fact it worked so quick and easy I thought that I must have screwed up somewhere but sure enough on checking the system settings menu the new software version was listed as being the current one.

I even managed to figure out the PVR function and recorded some sample video directly to the USB stick.

I am well impressed with this receiver. The last time I dabbled in the multi sat motorised world was many years ago with a Pace MSS1000.

What a difference a decade makes

I am not doing too well am I?

3 days on the job and I get my first warning for posting a live link!

That will teach me to read the rules and obey them

Live links there will no more be

This forum thing is all new to me but I will get there in the end
