Their's then....

My aerial could do with being replaced, well, the pole could, but then if the pole gets replaced, then everything else might aswell be replaced at the same time...

Except that to replace the lashing would be a hairy affair as on the other side of the chimney is a long drop down to my alleyway....

I'll wait until it collapses (the aerial, not the chimney!!!)...

So ........ I don't think I'll bother there .......... But I'll put a signal amplifier after the Hdd recorder in the loop as a final & last ditch attempt to make it work......

No one can say I ain't trying

Tell LG that the TV is faulty, you have replaced your aerial, there is no fault with the install as indicated by the PVR/DVD-R, and you want it refunding. You have loads of legal rights which they have to follow otherwise they're breaking the law...

Then buy a TV that works...

LG LCD screens are usually good as PC monitors, but add some cheap gubbins to turn it in to a TV is just a waste of money, but that's my opinion, I see lots of cheap, but very good, LCD TVs and plasmas in the shop where I work so there are lots to choose from away from the leading brand names...

Personally, I'm happy with my ol' 21" TV set, it work, there's little HD content I'm interested in so there's no point upgrading just yet...

I think they are supposed to be pretty good, but obviously they're only as good as the input source...

Sorted!

Well I tried a signal amplifier, which actually made things worse

So I tried attenuating the signal ..... BINGO all works fine now

-24dB did the trick ....... (I had some lil attenuators in me box O' bits, stashed away ....... Who says keepin' stuff ain't prudent ?) ...... So I thought ..... Umm can't hurt to try these .......

So on the advice of the TV, I bought a new antenna which strictly speaking I didn't need, however I did rectify the down lead issue, which would of turned in to a problem eventually anyways

I guess TV antennas are a bit more complex than I first thought

Right I'm now officially chuffed & am off to go & watch "Dave" for the rest of the day

PS anyone wanna buy a antenna amplifier ??

Well I'll be!!! I've heard that some satellite boxes can be overloaded if the signal's too strong, but a TV? It must have a super dooper sensitive tuner if it needed attenuating!!!

Well done on figuring it all out, and I do agree that having a collection of bits is always the best idea, that is until it fills your house...

You sure

Nice to hear you have got it all up and running

On reading the thread i was going to suggest attenuation. I helped install a few rigs in Bolton a few weeks back and all of them pointing at Winter Hill. Every single one had to be attenuated down to about 85dB at the system launch and then down to about 80dB at output to the sub feeds.

Never had a situation like that its usually the need to amplify before the sub feed output.

Just wondering if the digital signal was so high did you have powerlines on the analogue channels. Its usually a good indication if the signal input is too high.
