All TV viewing applications store a channel database somewhere,

find it, edit it...

No idea what's causing that weird video bug?!? It sounds like its clearing some sort of frame buffer but are you sure these phantom frames are from a few minutes earlier???

I know they use some very strange MPEG2 encoding parameters [criminally low bitrate, strange GOP structure with very long I-frame intervals, 544X578 resolution etc]

What kind of decoder are you using? Maybe it can't cope with the strange format they are using - which is fair enough!

I found some people working on an MHEG keygen but I think they change the algorithm every few hours so I don't think it's very practical - I'll let you know if they crack it.

Cheers,
Nick
An hour after I posted the above, they had an on-screen 'Temp Fault' message, and when the service returned, it was fine. The video frames really were from a few minutes before (at least two), but that's obviously the way it was transmitted. The dodgy buffer must have been at their end!

Thanks. All good now.

3) Each of the subfolders below has the technical details for a channel.
4) Find a folder for a channel you don't need (eg. UK Food or something)
5) Open that folder, then the Tune Info Table folder and go into the '00000000' folder for it.
6) For each value you want to change, double click on the name of the value, change the setting to decimal, enter the number and click ok.

Current Video PID = 301
Frequency = 578000 (not sure if this varies by region)
PCR PID = 301
PMT PID = 701

8) For RedHot

I have a Nokia box - The code for Red Hot works fine for me, but the one for XtraView doesnt.

Should the Xtraview PID have four digits? Any advice?

There is always Ebay for picking up boxes that are no longer made/sold in shops. And you might save a few pounds too!

Yes, they go a lot cheaper on Ebay than the £130 I paid!

Rashen Frashen... (Is that how Mutley would spell it?)

Well Nick you have certainly started a thread here!! I have a Nokia 221T (soft 1.50) and have enjoyed reading through the threads. BUT for some reason neither Redhot or Xtraview is working for me. For redhot I inputed the 3 codes on Ch31 and when pressing opt did not get a picture. Also tried saving as Pooo1. Still blank. (After 11PM incidentally!). Went on and tried the different codes on Ch36 xtraview. Same result....but maybe this channel has nothing at 11+PM. This has got me fascinated ...if no results!! Any tips to correct my errors will be greatly appreciated! thanks

I'm still struggling and now think that it is some confusion on my part over channel numbers!!! I go (Nokia 221T) into settings, channel, advanced man search, select ch no. Have put in 3 sets of pids for Red and Xtra and get nothing. When I tried UKTVGold pids I realised that I could only select ch nos in the range 21 to 69!! (Looks a bit like rf number range to me!). Can anyone help please? It's driving me bonkers!

Indeed it is an RF number range -

You will need to find out which channel (by trial and error maybe) it is being
broadcast on on your local transmitter.
I scanned 1 channel at a time (the 221 will do this) and saw what it found there.
When it came up with what I was looking for, I used that channel in the ADV scan and robert is your fathers brother as they say.

(you will have to save it first as P0xxxx) and enable that channel in the menu
then go through the channels as normal till you find it.

You are soooo right. The RF values will differ with your geographical location.

Either do a full scan and see which channel it finds them on (and then use that in the manual setup as well), or go one at a time.

RedHot 11.00PM onwards, Xtraview finishes at 11.00PM IIRC

XtraView and RedHot should always be on the same freq as [your] Channel 5,

the SDN multiplex frequency C5 is on changes from region to region but if you

tune your decoder to Channel 5 before you go into the PID menu you shouldn't

have any more problems.
