My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.
Reading TivůSat Cards

Although hitherto it has been the case that only dedicated TivůSat Receivers could decode the associated Cards and despite it still apparently being the case that a custom CAM won't be released until sometime in 2010, it seems that the Satellite fraternity have found a way, using Diablo Cam:

Underworld 183 and Horizon 102

With all credit to Mickha and apologies for lifting the info, which is too valuable not to also be made available in the Tivů sub-forum

More details, please - anybody?

My System: TM-6900 HD COMBO Super+ and a 1m motorised dish. Echostar and 80cm fixed dish. Pace and 40cm fixed dish. And a selection of analogue receivers too. HP Laptop

Hmm! As I understand it, the Diablo 2.3 Cam, which is the one in question, was withdrawn last april. In fact there is an official announcement to that effect on the official website.

A call to relatives in Milan has revealed that there are two widely available receivers from Humax and Samsung. They both support cams, but the Italian card reader is built in, and it is coupled to the specific registered card.

Also, a cam is being developed, and should be available by march 2010.

As far as I know only the firmware upgrade was stopped, this is where you could upgrade the Diablo 2.2 cam to a 2.3 version.
You can still buy several versions, of the Diablo 2.3 cam, including the light and the Wi Fi, although it is now limited to what it will open.

You need to brush up on your Italian
The most popular receivers here in Italy for tivu'sat are the Humax COMBO 9000 and the ICAN ADB 1110SH TivůSat. Third is the Telesystem TS9000 Tivůsat which has lost it's popularity due to serious issues with the decoder's current software, this should be resolved by an update shortly.
Where is this thing about cards and decoders being matched coming from??? To the best of my knowledge the cards will work in any tivu'sat box and I'm 99.999% sure of that.
There is no samsung receiver, it's a samsung CAM for DTT which also works with the tivu'sat card. The official CAM will be released in early 2010.

Thnx Dennis. "A call to relatives in Milan" Would suggest that I am passing on what I've been told. So brushing up on my Italian, which incidentally, I speak fluently, is not an issue.

Ooops! Check your facts before telling me what boxes you can and can't get. The following is a Mediaset Press release........I take it you have brushed up on your Italian.

And don't buy the ICAN ADB 1110SH. It looks rubbish with it's twin card slots. Having said that, it is HD compatible. But it still looks like rubbish. It also gives frequent error messages, it freezes, it keeps asking for a pin number, and the audio has problems. Did I miss anything? If I did, look up _http://www.i-can.tv/en/troubleshooting.htm

I'll be testing the Samsung Cam in the next few days. Will post results in near future. At the moment my Technomate recognises the Cam and can read the card serial number. Not tried it when Canale 5 is scrambled yet, as I'm at work at that time. Incidentally, for those of you who know what a Clanzer Build 5 is, it can also read the card of a fashion, but I need some software from somewhere. Shame its not supported anymore.

What this actually says is that by the end of the year there will be tv sets with 'built-in' or incorporated tivusat decoders from LGE, Panasonic, Samsung Sony and Vestel.
And that other 'external' decoders are on the way from the suppliers you mention above. The press release says from september but the latest news is these will be available in december.
So my facts were in fact correct. There is no Samsung receiver. The three receivers you mention above were the same three I spoke about in my earlier post.
For someone who says he speaks italian fluently you obviously cannot read it very well.

This decoder is not HD anything. It's got a HDMI port for sending upscaled pictures to your tv.That's it.
Plus there was a recent software update which resolved the problems it had. Tell the person who has it to do an ota update to software version 1152 3.
