Problems accessing Viaccess card

hello,

I recently purchased a Fortec Fs-4700 receiver. I have an ART subscripton access card to view ART channels. When I first tried this card with the receiver, I had no success.

I contacted Fortec and they provided me with software to update the receiver to allow it to read Viaccess cards. Now, I get a "Viaccess 2.x card inserted" message in the menu, so I'm assuming it's been recognised.

However, I still get a scrambled message when trying to view ART channels. I contacted ART and they told me that an update wouldn't be enough (even if the card was being read), and that I'd have to buy a CAM. Is this correct?

Is there any way I can get it to work without a CAM?

Thanks!

Odai.

Are you sure its a viaccess 2 card. Its sounds to me like its behaving like a Viaccess 3.0 card IMHO.

If its a Viaccess 3 card that would explain everything

hello,

I'm assuming it's a Viaccess 2 card, as in the menu it comes up with "Viaccess 2.x card inserted".

Before the update, nothing would come up. Now, it is recognised (I think) but the channels remain scrambled.
