Echostar AD-3000IP Problem

Hi, not sure if any of you guys can help - my Echostar died over the weekend, seems to turn on OK but the lights just revolve continuously when coming out of standby. Echostar site suggests loading latest code ( was already loaded ) but reloading made no difference. Followed hints and tips on your site using both sets of schematics - found R3 well cooked but resoldering made no difference. DVM suggest all voltages OK. Checked ripple with scope, again appears fine - very little noise. Tried to get Echosat ( only authorized Echostar repair agent? ) to quote to be told their only engineer on holiday till May 27/28 ( and I thought I had it tough! ) Any thoughts would be appreciated - rgds Ray aka mihd

That's most likely to be a corrupt eeprom. If reloading firmware doesn't work, the only course is replacement, as I don't think there's any method that you can access the eeprom to erase and reprogram it through jtagging the CPU on this machine.

Best to get Echosat to look at it, as you say.

Minimum repair cost will be £150-£200 including return carriage. It's not worth it.

If you really want an Echostar 3000 try looking for a secondhand one, they go for £100 max.
