Unlocking a Nikkai DVD800A DVD player

I bought a couple of cheap DVD players for the kids at Christmas and now I know why they were so cheap!

They obviously came from the USA as they have a US style plug on them (but fortunately a very wide voltage range) and phono connections instead of a scart. All this is no problem but the fact it is Region 1 most certainly is.

I wouldn't mind converting it to just Region 2 but I've never heard of this so multi region it has to be. Unfortunately after after a long search on Google I've come up with nothing except 2 other poor souls looking as well.

So, can anyone help?

region setting can be done 5 times total, if you intend to unlock the player
try finding 'regionfree.zip' -this may only work on a virgin player.

Gosh, I'd just about forgottenn about them. I've found the file and downloaded it. All I have to do now is dig the DVD players out of the lockup garage.

Note to wife: See, I told you that we shouldn't throw them out.

If you can take a screenshot of the menus, I can probably tie it in with a more common brand.

I think the 800A is actually a three or four year old design, similar circuitry to Yelo DVD players.

OK thanks. Give me a few days or so to get to the back of the lockup
