Help: Just bought a Dragon Module 4.1 now what?

Ok I just purchased a Dragon cam and I've been reading about predator files. What exactly will this file do for me? How do I load these files onto the cam. Do I need a cas 3 programmer and a loader card?

System Setup
Window Vista
Technotrend 3650 CI
DVB Viewer Pro
Communal Satellite dish
Pointing at 28.2
*ky UK Card

The Dragon Cam is a little old now but loaded with Predator 368 can currently open the following main packages:
Premiere 19.2E
Polsat 13E
Digi TV 1W

To load a Predator file you will either need a Cas programmer with dummy card, which are the Cas 3+, Cas 2+ Plus or Cas 3+ Plus.
Or you will need loader card, either a Fun Card 7 or PIC F84a and a card programmer capable of programming your chosen loader card.

The cam can read your S*y card but cannot interpret the stay alive signal so the card will need to be returned to the original receiver every 4-6 weeks.

Thanks for the info. Would I have been better off getting the Diablo cam? I purchased from skywise.tv and inquired as to the best card for my setup and was advised to buy the Dragon. Is it old tech? Does the Diablo keep a sky card active?

No Cam can currently interpret the stay alive signal but some Linux receivers, loaded with the correct software, can, including the Dreambox.
Have you checked your Cam, to see if it already loaded with a Predator file?

Got the CAM today, it is PRED 3.68
I take is all I need to do is enter my S*Y stb serial in DVBViewer CAM menu setting and put in my Freesat S*Y card all all should work.

What is NDS 0.0.0.7 or vplug used for? Is it what I think it is? Will they be of any use to a fix dish pointing to 28.2

If you are hoping for free sky then you are going to be disappointed. You will get exactly what your card is authorised for, nothing more.

The Dragon is a multi cam, which can currently open
Premiere 19.2E
Polsat 13E
Digi TV 1W
when loded with Predator 368, as I stated in my first reply.

Sorry my question was about vplug and NDScam. If T-Rex with the latest pred file can handle S*Y cards why would anyone need vplug or NDScam

Because not everyone wants to watch sky! There are literally 1000s of other channels out there in the skies above Europe.

ok, so using a dish that can receive signals from different satellites these softwares or t-rex cam can decrypt the signals.

How different are the Euro verisons vs S*Y versions e.g. SCI FI, Movie channels; are many of them in English? Is there somewhere I can go to see the list of English Lang channels?

Thanks,
M

The software can only secrypt SOME services - its not a free for all out there! The main one is probably Premiere on 19E at the moment, although its going secure later in the year

English language channels:

http://en.kingofsat.net/search.php

you will need to put the language to English AND select a satellite cluster..

Digi TV 1W has AXN Sci Fi which is in English and available with the Dragon Cam.
Using the Dragon Cam you can open the following main packages:
Premiere 19.2E
Polsat 13E
Digi TV 1W
for details of channels available on these packages check Analogusats link or try lyngsat.com.
Click on the pacages link relating to the position of the satellite the package is on.
