Ok I understand HB13DISH. No pb.

Again, thank to you and Charly for your precious help.

We'll keep in touch.

Hello Joseph,
I didn't get a reply about how many points there are in the house.
I recommend to leave the setup as it is now and run another cable so as to connect it to the sat card.
Remember to NEVER connect the coaxial cable to the receiver or the card in PC when it is on. Always shutdown the PC before doing the actual connection, otherwise there is a chance to damage the LNB or the card or the receiver.
Until you get the card and CAM, arrange for Yes to come and add the second cable, if it is is not already there.
I don't know if they will charge extra for another HD enabled point, but this is something that your friend has to know now and not after buying all the parts.

Hello HB13DISH,

I think that there is 2 points in the house.

The idea is to replace 1 of those 2 "Yes receiver" by a strong computer to have better image quality and more possibilities to record programs, EPG, time shifting etc...

Regards, Joseph.

Hauppauge HD DVR

I think that this model can be of interest.

This will enable recording to the PC, using the Yes HD receiver out, instead of a DVB-S2 card.
Does the Yes receiver has Component output connectors, or only HDMI connector that goes to the HD TV?

There is a componant output in the Yes receiver but I think that you are reducing the quality of the video because at the end, you are converting the signal 2 times : from digital to analogic (componant out) and analogic to digital (in the LCD TV) ! I am right ?

From my opinion, a full digital solution must be better in terms of quality.

You are probably right. Just wanted to cover all possibilities.
A DVD recorder with a HDMI input would be a better solution.

Did you succeed?
I'm looking into subscribing to YES and using it with my own HTPC as well. Would much apriciate if you'd share your experience.

Thanks

As Nachmany pointed out before (Post #27), other European packages are preferred.
I can add to the list sky Italia and Cyfra+ (Polish) using the English (or original language) audio option, where applicable.
But please note that a subscription to Yes HD means a 36 months contract, last time I checked.
I would recommend to subscribe the least binding contract. You can always upgrade when you are absolutely sure that you are happy with what they give and that you get good value for money.
The picture quality is not as stunning as the ones you are probably accustomed to see from SRG which have a very high bitrate of 6,500 kb/s.

My girlfriend likes to watch the Russian Channel 9 (Israel Plus). To my knowledge this is distributed with YES and HOT.
Or is it also available on some other Satellite and Package?

Please don't mention C a b l e providers in this forum.
Israel Plus is not available in other packages.
It is part of the Basic Package which costs 199 NIS (~ $50) !!!
