A football fan and his family have won £13,000 after staff at a betting shop gave the wrong odds.

Rotherham United fan Gary Johnson had asked at the beginning of the season for odds on his team to avoid relegation.

He was stunned to be offered 66-1 against by two female assistants at the Don Noble betting shop in Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire, saysThe Sun.

Those were the odds for United to win the First Division. He should have been quoted evens.

So the 22-year-old from Withernsea, East Yorkshire, told his mother, father and grandparents. They then bet a total of £200.

Richard Noble, of the Don Noble bookmaking chain, first refused to pay up, but has now relented. "It's our mistake and we've got to pay," he said.

Gary and his family now plan to splash out on a Spanish holiday home and Rotherham United season tickets.
