Motorised 1.2M Fibo looking between 45E - 60W, TM9100 Receiver running EDG-Nemesis 3.2 in flash

I've come across one of these that has a problem with tracking. If you go from sat 'a' to sat 'b' and back it settles slightly off. It sounds like a lot of slack in the gearing for the motor / gearbox.

Is this likely to be an easy problem to solve? Can spares, or even replacement motor units, be got hold of easily?

Any info would be appreciated.

It does sound like your motor is on the way out.

It is very hard to get new parts for these dish`s. I have only just sold 2 motor`s.

Your best bet is too ask snuffer, he has a mate who has some spare parts.:)

Or you could mount it on a Jeager 1224.

See the alternative motor thread, plenty of ideas there.;)

Thanks, all is not lost then.... I've had a look through the thread you suggested, some excellent ideas there. Should have noticed it before but thanks for pointing it out.

It is not usually the slack in the motor (is adjustable ) itself which gives noticeable backlash, it is more likely to be the nylon pinion and/or the drive pin in the motor shaft. These damage quite easily, the 3mm roll pin in the motor shaft bends if overloaded and also deforms the slot in the nylon gear, which then has free play. Often caused by accidentally driving the dish too far, unfortunately there are no limit switches fitted. :confused

I do have some spare parts about. :D

Thanks Johnsatuk, when the weather gets a little better I'll get the dish down and have a look to see whats going on. Looks like you're in the same part of the world as well, so we'll see what happens when I get it stripped apart.

It is quite easy to unbolt just the motor to have a look at, just have to secure the dish first to stop it swinging about when you take the motor off. :)

I owe you one johnsatuk. Removed the motor, this morning, and stripped it down. Tightened everything up, replaced the roll pin (just in case) and cleaned and greased everything up. Just replaced it now and everything is as solid as a rock. It goes to where it's told, and back again, with no sign of drift. Thanks for your information, it helped alot.
