Hi,I have a 1.8 Channel master which is currently moved across the arc using an large actuator. I am toying with the idea of adding inclined tracking to it.The only idea i have so far is to replace the inclination bolt with another actuator.Has anyone tried this with any sucess before or is the a smarter solution?.Thanks Mike

Well lets put it this way, it would have to be a very special motor with gearbox to make the miniscule alterations for an inclined orbit adjustment with any accuracy. It would also have to have tremendous torque to raise the weight of a 1.8mtr, I'm not saying it cannot be done indeed I am pretty sure someone posted on here a while ago whose kit could do just that but for what you get back it seems a lot of messing around, what exactly is it that entices you to go down this road?

the jaeger 1224EL motor does inclined orbit but think the andrews dish is too heavy for it even thought the spec it says 1.2m-2.4m dish

Hi,The main reason is to follow 8 and 20 west it doesnt move a huge amount but i am currently adjusting it manually which is a pain,as it throws my positioner out of sync. The 2.4 c/m. Any chance of seeing the setup behind the dish also what size jack are you using?.Cheers

yes m8 I will get you a picture tomorrow when I get home from work.
Finish at 2 on Friday, so it gives me 3 hours before wife gets home.

We've had words again tonight about the dish, I may have to look at lowering it in to the ground, so a bit of digging this weekend might be in order.

She is complaining about the height'O'-red

Frigging women !

:)Some dish! Don't the neighbours complain or does the trellis hide it well but it must affect the signal.

Neighbours have not said anything its just the bl**dy wife.

The trellis is at the side and the dish is mainly on 7.0w so trellis does effect it.
I am thinking of going in front with trellis and plants because the signal actual comes from above and not directly in front.
I can stand right in front of the dish where the LNB is there is no loss of signal.

Nice pics!

So its not on a polar mount, Is it hard finding sat`s with the 2 motor`s?

As you have to adjust both motor`s every time you move the dish.

Just out of curiosity, there's a DOS program I posted a while back called FODTRACK, which is used with 2 axis HAM radio antenna dishes, would that be of use with these setups? :confused

Here's the homepage for it:

Here's an adaptation of it's use:

At the mo m8, I have only gone from 1.0w to 7.0w.

It went from 7.0w to 4.0w with out having to use incline or decline.

The only problem is the slot on the mount are small and will only allow lets say 5.0e to about 12.0w.
If thats make sense.

I have ordered a feedhorn from snap and can't wait to try it because at the mo current feedhorn is not good enough.

My and wife had a very long chat last night and have come to a comprise I have to do my best to hide it ( don't laugh ) within the next month.
So it will be a case of lowering it and getting conifers/plant to put round it.

The 2.4m andrew (channel master) are good dishes i have installed loads in the past for one way rx only and two rx/tx and they work well,

They need the andrews feedhorn with a F/D of 0.66 with a VSWR of

1.3:1
otherwise your 2.4 will act as a 1.8m dish,

The feedhorn you need is below
Andrew Part number: 611-6060-07
Corrugated ku-band linear feedhorn
vswr 1.3:1
F/D 0.66

What is the point in adding inclined tracking on a small ku-band 1.8m dish i could see the point on a large C/KU BAND 3M 4M + dish but on a small dish is the uk there is no point,
