1.8 ChannelMaster Installation.
Inverto Black Ultra Quad LNB
50k N/W of Madrid.

After about 4 years I finally got around to installing a 1.8 CM in my garden.

I have a 1.2 CM installation here.. http://www.satellites.co.uk/satelli...756-my-channelmaster-1-2-madrid-astra-2d.html

It was not the best place to put it as it is on an old swimming pool wall, but it was the best location in terms of 28.2 degrees.

Assuming that the wall was not built to the highest standards I have added some support. Not the most aesthetically pleasing, but hopefully is will do the job. It can be -6 in the winter with strong winds.

I drilled 4 holes for the 16mm rods. The rods went in approx 30cm (after 30cms it is air space) using a wood template to site the rods correctly in the concrete, making sure then support was exactly vertical.
I then made a 70cm x 70cm steel reinforced concrete base on top of this, which took 3 barrel loads of cement.

I decided to try a Inverto black Ultra LNB with this setup. Inverto have spent some time on the packaging, making it look good in the box, but falls short on the basics, for example there were no F1 connector covers included (at least in mine). That said you should never judge a book by it’s cover.

I am getting all 2D channels 24/7, though occasionally on some days a small amount of breakup around 23.00 on the BBC2 Transponder.

Heavy thunderstorms and I loose the signal on 10773H in the evening, but then again at 1350m above sea level there is no thunder above as I am in the middle of the storm. I will still try a Invacom QDF-031/feedhorn at some point to see if it makes any difference.

Looks an excellent job embalse :)

Think you might get a little more out of the dish using a c120/feed (as said) but if all works ok then no bother.

Like the security guard by the way :D

Yes, he's making sure there's a signal 24/7.

nice job -- embalse

as the owner of a 1.metre and a 1.8 channel master
i know how sturdy the mount needs to be for one of these beasts - l.o.l.
on the l.n.b. -- has it not got the slide down connection cover -as the single versions have ?

I adjusted the focal length using TP 10906V. Any closer/away and I lost strength.

Hey! You are right there is a cover. Thanks for pointing it out. I had been mumbling under my breath about Inverto spending money on packaging and not including the basics. It is obvious now when I look at the LNB. In my defence there was nothing in the box to suggest this system and I was not looking for it.
I have removed the F1 Connector covers and used the slide down cover.
I might still add some amalgamating tape later as the winter here is very damp.

That was a good guess.

My in-laws lived there for a few years. Even in summer the swimming pool never got over 22ºC.

Yes the swimming pool season can be short, but the 4 seasons are fantastic, snow in the winter and beautiful hot summer days that cool down at night.

Hi Embalse

nice installation job - very inspiring...

the kingpost: Is that a home-made affair, or is that an official CM/Andrew kingpost?
And if home made, can you share the measurements for it, e.g. the plate thickness, and any lessons learnt?

(Although mine will go into concrete block in the ground, I like the idea of being able to unmount the mast again without having to hack away on the concrete. Leaving the top of the concete 20 cms below ground level allow for a loose covering of soil to hide it if removed).
