:confused I need help! (my wife has said that for years)

I want a 12 volt sky box for use in the caravan, I know the Pace 1000 was designed for this but they don't seam to make them now. I have read that they are slow and problematic to. I have seen Pace DS430N and Thomson DS4212 for sale on ebay saying they are 12 volt but to be honest they look like home conversions, has someone just fitted an inverter in them? (links at bottom of post) Is their an official 12 box that only uses about 15w like the pace 1000 did because using an inverter just eats battery life. Are the Pace 1000's slow and problematic?

Also dose anyone know if those Squarial type dishes actual work?

By Squarial do you mean the original BSB squarials or the modern squarials like the Attisat FL500? :confused

Didn't think the Pace 1000 (also known as a Minibox) was problematic. I have one myself and haven't noticed anything amiss. Only S/H now I'm afraid.

Never heard of any 12v conversions but I suppose that it's possible. If they are are using a 12-240 volt converter then this will increase the battery drain a bit - I really would recommend keep looking for a Minibox.

Well, I can certainly say that modern squarials do work well, mine is an Attisat FL500, although I haven't used it for a while, and they work like prime-focus dishes which point in the direction of the satellite. They're usually about equivalent to 60-80cm dishes, depending on which one you get, but they usually only have a single output, so they're useless for things like sky+. They're also a bit pricier than a dish as they're a little more complicated inside... :)

Hope that helps!!! :D

I have a pace 1000. It is excellent. It has the same performance as the pace 2600c1, and has excellent reception qualities here in southern Spain. As they don't have an internal power supply the heat build up is negligeable. They command the highest price of any 2nd hand skybox on ebay, which perhaps shows their worth.

I was looking on the web the other day and there was a uk company offering the minibox as new. Can´t see how but may be refurbished. There were showing something like 180 in stock. Sorry I can´t remember the site, but google and you may find it.
Good Luck
