No.

40.9dBi is a bit optimistic, i would say about 40.3dBi or something.

Fibo 90cm-Maybe the only one in Japan!!!

Also would like to throw Katherin into the mix, Does anybody have any experience???

http://www.kathrein.de/en/sat/products/download/cas_018.pdf

Decent Specs also:
Gain
10.70~11.70 = 41.5
11.70~12.50 = 42.15
12.50~12.75 = 42.5

The Fibo 120 gets
Gain @ 11.7 = 42.4Dbi

Looks like the fibo is a touch better, but unavaliable.

That's the CAS120 Offset dish, very good dish, probably the best 120cm on the market but it will cost you a arm and a leg.

The dish goes for around 400 euro and the AZ/EL mount for around 300 euro.

Just look at the build quality, it's amazing, it's commercial quality and you get what you pay for.

Coming from you Likvid thats means alot, 300 for just the az/el?!?

If it would last you 10+ years it may be worth it...

Have you seen one of these perform?

No i haven't, i think they are too expensive for people to buy, i mean you can get the Gibertini 125cm for about 130 euro today including AZ/EL mount.

The feed is matched to the reflector, the LNB i don't know about, it's Kathrein specific.

If i bought the antenna i would have stripped the feed from the LNB and put a SMW or Invacom there instead.

The feed is everything, i think the performance would degrade if you put something like a Invacom with integrated feed on that reflector, they are usually made only for 0.6 f/d reflectors.

Just look at the Gibertini, it got 0.66 f/d, a budget Invacom LNB with feed would not perform as good as a optimized feed for it.

You can buy a optimized feed from Seavey but it will cost you around $300 or something last time i checked.

Would it be worth it then??? Even as high as quality as it is there are still the physical limitations of a 120 no??? over say a 125 of decent build quality???

The Fibo gregorian "theory" corrects this with a dual reflector.

I think you said it before, the market is so flooded with cheap stuff it's crazy, When I do buy...pretty much anything, I always get the best I can afford, or will just save up then buy it. I have acutally *SAVED* money using this method.

When I buy it or something similar, it would be outfitted with equal quality LNB/Polariser/Feed.

The only REAL advantage of a gregorian dish is that it got much better cross-polarization than a normal dish.

The subreflector phase out the opposite polarization and is mostly used for uplinks.

There are tests done that shows this remarkable improvement on phasing out the opposite polarization due to the subreflector.

Tests also shows that a gregorian dish performs about 10% better than a normal offset dish at the same size.

If i had the space and couldn't get larger dish than 120cm and didn't mind spending what the Kathrein cost, i would buy it.

The Fibo 120cm is so hard to get so you can look forever.

If you appreciate quality you should buy the Kathrein.

Yeah that's what i think also, i always buy the most expensive stuff i can afford, i hate cheap quality, people like buying CHEAP these days, it's the fashion word of modern times, the cheaper the better people thinks.

Quality costs, and will always do.

Mostly to blame for this are all Korean satellite manufacturers flooding the market with cheap stuff.

You want a good retailer for the Kathrein in Germany?

Try this!

I do appreciate quality like most people on this board...but not at any cost.

The Andrew Type 120 cost 1/4 and is marginally *worse*

Thanks for the information about the gregorian. thats pretty interesting.

A Cas90 = 200Euro
A Cas120 = ~400Euro

Lets just say hypothetically you mulled it over and decided to buy one.
How would two coupled Cas90's perform over a single 120

I agree with the whole Korean Cheap summery...too bad the Mrs. is all about quantity over quality. Im the exact opposite.

Here is a conversation we had just recently about some knives
Mrs lloyd21...Look that a good price on a 30pc knive set
me...no its not its garbage
Mrs. lloyd21....but you get 30pc's
me....their garbage....let just spend the money and get the Wustof
Mrs. lloyd21....the price is like X10 *Yada* (Japanese girls word for No Way)
me....you'll be buying new ones next year

I think you get the picture

Hehehe.....

What country are you from? Japan?

I can't comment about coupling two CAS90s together as it is nearly impossible and if it worked it would be like 1.8 meter, more like 1,20 meter or something.

Andrew bought Channel Master in 2003, Channel Master couldn't face their financial problems so Andrew took over all production, it's really a Channel Master design from the beginning.

The dual-optics or gregorian dishes they offer today are only available in sizes of 1.8m and 2.4m in their VSAT range that was branded Channel Master before.

Why don't you install the dish as this guy have done, then you can have a 2.4 meter dish outside your balcony.
