Wow, this is very useful information! Now it will be possible to record all closedowns using only one dish and one receiver! But, I'll use two dishes While one channel is closing down, second receiver will be tuned on the "next-to-off" channel... I wonder if it is possible to connect two receivers to one LNB (if both receivers are tuned on transponders with the same polarization of cource ;))

@Byteman: of course that is possible... just use a two way splitter with DC decoupling (there just two diodes in it).

@solly: SIXX has been on TP49 for some time now. It is considered as a showcase to promote the new channel which is actually meant as a digital "women's channel" only.

Hi there, My wife is Austrian and for ages we have been getting her the German Channels.
I know that it'll all be turned off at the end of April so I would like to ask is it a simple matter of swapping the analogue box for a digital one and if so what is a suitable bare minimum box?
We are looking to get SWR>>BW, WDR, Eurosport (obviously), ZDF, ARD, BR, MDR, HR, Sat-1, RTL, RTL2, Pro7, NDR, N.TV, rbb,Phoenix, Kabel-1,Super-RTL and especially 3Sat and VOX.
Hope someone can help.

Yep, a Digital box (any cheap and cheerful DVB S generic Receiver will do).

You'll probably have to replace the LNB (on the end of the dish arm) for a Universal one: These are cheap as chips and replacement is a simple matter.

Be aware the digital version of Eurosport only carries the German soundtrack.

The Video for EuroSport is fta on 19.2 east The English Audio for EuroSport is fta on 13 east via 11240V 27500 on these pids 2562,
All you need is a 2 Lnb set up for these satellites & a second satellite tuner run through a Hi Fi system the audio is slightly out of sequence but at least this is Free.

- 2 transponders will be used for FTA HD from January 2014 (11053 for 1 Extra HD, 1 Festival HD, 1 Plus HD; 10891 for MDR HD, hr HD, rbb HD)
- Sky Germany announced that they get a new transponder this year for HD (also offering MTV Live HD from 4th April on, Sky Atlantic HD from May and TNT Serie HD from June)
- some vertical transponders surely will be used by Digital+/Canal+...

transponder is not known but rumour has it that Nat Geo HD will change the transponder for Sky Atlantic HD because otherwise many cable customers couldn't (via Kabel Deutschland for example you can only receive 8 Sky HD channels: Sky Cinema HD, Sky Sport HD 1, Sky Sport HD 2, Disney Cinemagic HD, Eurosport HD, History HD, Nat Geo HD, Discovery HD; at Unitymedia, the second-largest provider in Germany you only get Sky Sport HD 1).
Nat Geo HD is also part of many cable packages so that you can watch it twice.
