Hi . @Captain Jack ...
no i,m afraid not .. even though its a superb day here today .... this dish has been chained down for weeks now with all the recent windy weather ... out mountain/ fell walking this afternoon and tomorrow .. then working sunday ... maybe i will get chance to continue something with this dish on monday i hope ... .. the last thing i did was fitted a combined ku/ka lnb and had a bit of a play around just before the bad weather closed in.
cheers :)

i can see 7 west ok without moving it .... can,t see anything from Nilesat 201 though ...
i can see 11595 V 22000 from E7WA , its listed as being on the NWA beam ... i,m sure it is looking at the signal db.... its a first for me i think:)..... the ME-NA beam is strong.

Hi nelson, what signal are you receiving from this with the 2,4 and does the 1.8 lock it, could you check with the v7 please

Morning ...
Good result with 1.8 ... into F15 and V7 .. smooth picture (no breakup) :)
2.4 has no l.n.b. on currently ... going to play with an old co rotor on that dish later, after work.

Hey Nelson, any chance of a quick try on 36e Russian beam on the 1.8? I still haven't tried the plate you sent but hopefully over the next few weeks.

Thanks guys, I think this is from the Mena beam ? not NWA its far to strong compared to other NWA transponders.

Hi -- C.J. ... not looked there for ages ... will look with the 2.4 first (easier to setup for test ) and check the signal strength etc. if all looks good enough i will try with 1.8 :)

Hi C.J. ... i had spare time Saturday afternoon so had a check on the Russian beam with the 1.8
when the skies are cloud free as they were on sat afternoon i,m able to lock (just) ---
the same 3 transponders as before ... not a hint of signal from any others on the Russian beam though ..
the signal gets a little stronger late afternoon/ early evening. when i took these levels with the F15

12 130 R 27500 .. 8.1 db
12 092 R 27500 .. 8.8 db
12 149 L 27500 .. 8.3 db
Needs 7.9 db for lock (Lyngsat)

with the 2.4 all readings are a full 1.0 - 1.2 db higher

pic below of the - l.n.b - feed - plate - orientation that i used .

This is the only TP I get any sort of signal from on the Russian beam - without the plate in yet. I suspect the plate isn't going to go far enough to get a lock on this.

Hmm -- Got to be worth a try with the plate i guess ...
but i must admit it doesn,t look very promising ... maybe i,m just in an unusual hot spot here.

Took advantage of the sunny weather to try this with a plate. This time, all the Russian beam frequencies you receive come in at about 2.5dB - obviously waaay below what's required for lock. I have a better chance of 56e down here but not until I relocate the dish slightly... and that probably won't be enough.

What a pity -- perfect weather for a best try ... but yes judging on the result without a plate --- your result with a plate is about what i thought it probably would be:( .. the plate i sent you is as good virtually, as an original one too - only 0.1 db less on my setup.
can only assume that i,m in some kind of odd hot - spot here then ?

anyone else in the uk able to get a lock on these 3 circular k/u transponders ?

Yeah it doesn't help the fact that there are sub-Sahara beam transponders on nearby frequencies creeping in. I put the LNB at a 45 degree angle to try and eliminate them but with the plate in, it seems to come in on both polarities. Is that the best position for the LNB?

Hi -- I have it setup on the 2.4 currently .. as in pic 3 and 4
here are some pics of positions and 1 of the feed with position of probes in relation to plate marked in red pen
if i skew the whole issue as in the second pic i gain about 0.1 -- o.2 db
i get signal on both polarities from
12 130 and 12 149 but only 1 polarity on 12 092?
