I need help here Guys. I’ve recently upgraded my 2.4m Famaval to a new 2.7m DH which in my little corner of Cyprus should be enough to guarantee virtually uninterrupted BBC/ITV. Installation seemed to have gone ok, however I’m having difficulty getting a fine tune on the dish, furthermore the position of the feedhorn when I go for maximum picture quality doesn’t seem right to me.
I’m only getting BBC for about ½ the day or so, it’s hard to tell as I’m out a lot – it’s really poor between 1730-2130hrs which seems far too long. I’ve tried using two Invacom Quads with similar results and also the large and small feedhorn rings, I’m not sure which is best for this dish. I’ve been told that the Scalar ring should be screwed all the way up the feedhorn but this doesn’t seem to work with my setup – it always ends up with about 1-2mm of thread protruding which is a long way short of screwed all the way! I’ve also been told that the Focal distance is 90.5cm to the end of the feed horn (male part)
It’s a brand new dish and I’ve checked it out with the old string trick and it seems fine.
I’m using a Satlook NIT to tune it. I have a Pace 2600 and Thomson 160 Sky+ box. The 2600 gets the bulk of the reception, the 160 doesn’t fair nearly so well!
Any help is very much appreciated. I’d hate to miss the queens speech;)
Cheers
