Apologies if I've missed a thread already covering this one. Idly scanning Ku this afternoon in all the quiet parts of the sky and found the two West African beam transponders on 31.5W

ORTM on 12340V 2120 7/8
ORTM2 on 12344V 2120 7/8

I've tried these 2 before but not had any luck. Which dish did you catch these with, the 1.25m or 1.8m?

I had these two on my 1.2m Channel Master before - can't try now as I cannot see beyond 15W.

This is on the 1.25, the 1.8 is set up for C Band pretty much all the time unless there's something specific I'm aiming for that requires the bigger dish.

Well just tried again, weather is good with mainly clear skies but nothing at all received! Will try again from time to time though.

Need a receiver that can separate the 2 transponders as all the parameters are the same. Mine will hit either transponder. So if I zap to ORTM sometimes it finds TM2 and vice versa. Must be down to the narrow bandwidth and low symbol rate.

Nothing whatsoever for me either. Signal must drop off quickly as you move north through the UK.

I seem to have lost this in the past week or so. It used to be around 6.5dB on my Fibo/F15 combination but I cannot get above 3dB now.

Has the signal decreased on this?

Edit: Don't worry - seems like something it up with my set up... signal has gone down everywhere.

I've just checked and I can just get ORTM on 12340V 2120 7/8 on my 1.80m in West Yorks. ~51% with a few break-ups. Ideal conditions.

As yet I've not been able to resolve TM2 though on my DM7025.

hi - 007.4 -

a good result :) i,v never had any luck here in the past - but just had a try again following your result and can get 12340V here also

and initially the same as your-self nothing for TM2 -- but by using 12347 v rather than 12344 v (as listed on lyngsat) it locks ok ?
signal strength seems much the same for me as 12340V

with 1.8 offset + F15 receiver --

regards ------

Hi nelson_b

I'd already tried upping the frequency of TM2 to 12346V but it still did not resolve.

However, when I decreased ORTM to 12336V aswell there was sufficient difference between them and I now get both :)

Strange - I can get both TPs on their own frequencies. TM2 being slightly stronger than ORTM.

Ive seen similar effects on 10E in the past where low symbol rate channels on frequencies very close together wont resolve unless you detune the receiver a few MHz.

Anyone managed to lock either of these NW UK ?..if so on what and with what..
I can see both channels hovering wildly around 3.3 to 4db on the F15 ..using the 1.25 Gibby and black ultra ..but have yet to get a lock..
Might just be clipping the top of a thinly leafed tree though.
