In all honesty I dont know how far into the throat the plate has to reach for best circular 'accept' and linear 'reject' ...Only trial and error will sort this out I fear ..
What I do know is that the DirectTV lnbs like the SL3 ...and the Saorsat Inverto ...achieve better circular conversion by using a lower resonance chamber with a partition below the probe ..and a Septum depolariser ..
This makes for an almost perfect method of receiving circular ...but I've yet to find a Ku lnb with full frequency range that uses this method ..
I'm still searching but doubt such a beast exists..
All I can say is ..
What you have is a Ku Tplate design which looks promising ..
Go for it and good luck buddy..
Looking forward to the results..
;)

Yes good luck -- i,m following with interest :)
hope you have plenty of plastic cards to cut up for experiments ... or maybe you will hit lucky and get it first time :)
lost count of how many plastic chopping boards i went through getting it up to full potential , for C band circular on a 1.8 c.m. offset dish.

A fleeting success .... from an unexpected setup
I,v been quite critical recently about the k/u performance of the C120 + c.m. feed on the 1.8 c.m. and how it has been giving poor results or even being completely blind to some weak transponders ....

i,v tried in the past to receive the circular t.p,s here with that combination. as i have the original c.m. dielectric plate for the feed and had no result .

as the skies were really clear here tonight i decided to give it another go. and was more than a bit surprised

only got about 40 mins worth before thin cloud drifted over and ended it ...

After the rubbish results i,v been getting recently from the C120+ feed -- i,m amazed ....
i,d replaced it with a black ultra .. and had more or less given up on it as any good for fringe reception ...........

If it can be done with this setup -- i,m certain it can be done better - and pull in more transponders with other l.n.b,s and fine tuning of plates or experiments with plate materials -- in the way its been seen to be done in C band :)

p.s. .. 1.8 meter dish minimum though and clear conditions -- from this location certainly

Sorry for that, Martin  It is too late now, but for the future, if you see written Latvia, do not hesitate to ask me. There always should be the way to reduce costs.

There is always something just out of reach - l.o.l. --- yes the fun is in the chase.

I think you stand a very good chance with the new l.n.b youv,e sent for :)
or even with a normal l.n.b and plate experiments -- i was getting very close with a T plate and a modified Darkgold C120 on the Alcoa P.F dish , just 1.0 db short ... my next step was going to be pulling the cap off the black ultra and making plates for it,

Thank you Rimants, i might take you up on that if my own does not work and the ones being delivered, it will be hard to lock all channels in the near future without a lot of messing about, this is the new lnb coming into play.

I also have one adapter for Fibo antenna with originally inserted plate, it came from times when there were Circulary-polarised birds receivable in Central Europe.

It may be the only fringe thing that the C.M. feed + C120 is good for , as its been soundly beaten by all my other l.n.b.f,s recently on other fringe t.p,s :-lol
