nelson_b "old chaparral co rotor with the plate removed --- it gave the best result - a full 1.0db better"
Interesting idea to have plate removed, will try it, has an old corotor.
Must get just get lose my present corotor, the screw is properly secured, any idea how I will get the screw lose?
hi - "Lasseparabol"

thank you for your scan results i will study in detail later .

can you show a picture of the screw that is a problem to loosen ? maybe its a different arrangement to mine ?

the plate is easy to remove -- it just pulls out -
its not so easy to put back in !! - great care needs to be taken so as not to damage its parts --
i,v just been replacing mine and taken some photos to show --
when replacing the centre pin may need guiding slightly with a finger --- the last picture shows the tip of a screwdriver (marked with a red dot) used to guide the orange slot onto its peg . before pushing the plate all the way in.

regards ---

Thanks Nelson_b for great pics.

The screw i have problem with is on my pics, the small insex screw.

2 pic on small screw, and one on my motors
I use the 36" to move dish between 80East - 40West (83East is possible)
The 24" motor between 1West - 55.5West
(58W is only around 1.8 elevation so not possible, the polarmount just can´t get any lower)

hi -
a nice dish setup you have there ---
xsmile.png.pagespeed.ic.CwSpBGGvqN.png

ah yes - on mine it is a small bolt ,
yours is a hex socket screw -
i would soak repeatedly for a day or two with easing oil (WD40)
make sure you have exactly the right size hex key - good quality (black steel is usually best ) - exta long if possible for extra leverage . or use some strong metal tube to extend a short hex key -
if its still stuck tight - try heating the area near the screw first - a hot air gun on a gentle setting so as not to blister the paint or cause damage to the plate inside the co rotor, even a hair dryer on full heat can be enough sometimes on soft alloy metals .

good luck --

What about Intelsat 906 (64.2E)? At first when I started my C-band observation at last winter (eeehhee I bought mesh for christmas present for me :) ) I catched also 3765R/3720R. Since then only strong Tanzania/Mozambik (3642R/3654R). Can you check this also? Are there anything else than these 2 anymore really?

I had a look at Intelsat 906 (64.2E) last night -- and this morning

my results are -

3645 R 8545 --IPP media mux --- clear

4094 L 3680 -- AFN mux -- encrypted

3654 R 5632 -- Mozambican mux -- clear (could not lock this last night - but ok this morning )

Here is my scan of the Intelsat 906, only R.
3721R 4882 remain, but are really weak only 4.6dB, some days even weaker.
For the last few days, weather was hot 20C + +, but this morning it was only 13C and then became significantly better results. (around 0.3dB better)
3765 R, I see no trace of the signal, perhaps even weaker?

Tested to remove the plate from corotor and here is the result.
My corotor which I tested on each of the older variety, but it was good to pull the plate anyway, I did not get Ku-band part but without it, the result is even better?

Sat/Freq Old setup Without plate
Paksat 3715V 5.4 No lock
Paksat 4134V 11.5 12.7
Intelsat 20, 3752V 6.9 7.5
Intelsat 20, 4054V 5.4 8.7
Intelsat 20, 4076V 7.1 10.0
Intelsat 20, 4090H 6.4 8.0
ABS1 3639V 10.1 10.4 (at 75E)

Results exceeded expectations and now these horrible 8PSK to receive from intelsat 20.
Around 1.0 dB better in many txp and some not so much better.
Will give it a try later with intelsat 11 (43W)

Thanks for the idea and help Nelson_b !

yes - indeed --
a good all round result --
i see from picture 1 -- post 22 that you have a nice clear view of the skies .

normally with my permanent setup i can only reach 49 east in C band - this week has been interesting to see just what i can get beyond that with 1.8 .

Hi Nelson,

A host of new Russian channels have started on Yamal 202 49E - can you check to see what you get from there?

i,v taken the C band test/alcoa dish down now -

There are two new transponders - 4101L and 4127R. Also 3743L is of interest!

Btw. pity that I get only one 8PSK freq. from 68.5E (4013H). Allmost all QPSK are Ok here. But anyway there is channel which name is Star CJ Alive on 3752V. Screenshot with logo would be cool :-wave

Thanks both. I have a clear view of 11w and could receive the only Russian transponder on that satellite with the 1.2m dish. I hear the new tp is even stronger.

49e view is restricted but we'll see what happens. Moving week!

Off topic... I can't find the other thread right now...

Loads of new transponders in Ku band on 68.5E. And a couple of new ones on landmass beam.

Some more Indian channels i think.
4184V 21600SR 5/6 8PSK, only 10dB but thats is enough.
Much rain here today therefore slightly lower dB

First new c-band frequency (here of course) since looong time as late as today. Been quite boring C-summer here, only old ones but nothing new blaaah.

But yes, I noticed that 4090H stronger than normally and sure made blindscan at once and 4118V (4116 says my technomate) was first time open, nice. 9 channel from India and all channels newones for me:)
