[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Jun-02 AT 10:18 AM (GMT)]Youre in a pedantic mood today then Rolf

This was more an exercise with the angle grider and to see how far I could push the dish (and the wife) before something broke. Both are intact - along with my head.

Im hoping that the satellite will become somewhat more popular as it supplies feeds from the Far East into West Europe

At the moment however these seem to be few and far between.

Panamsat at 68.5 East has some good radio stations on it.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-Jun-02 AT 09:23 AM (GMT)]Dont know how you could see that but

As most of the pictures were of the East and South, this would be the direction of the river Mole, which runs about 500m from the house. The Thames is North-West of us and is about 400m away

Ten years ago I could see the boats but in that time a new set of houses (built on the flood plain for some reason) block the view.

Having a flat roof house does have huge advangtages with reception

The only thing I can think off is cutting the lip on the dish so it goes further E ?.

I would simply put a spacer between the dish face and the PM bracket... should give you a couple of inches extra room.

It would be easier for me to cut the dish, I had a bit of a problem lifting the 1.2 above my head stood on a sloping roof then hanging it on a bolt , I am sure I will get it, the roof might stop me with the 1.2 time to set my sat card up and take a better look, I am sure I have nailed the positioning of the 1.8 now after the test over the last few days :).

Yeah, they are not light things at all. However.... is it really with hacking the dish for the off-chance that you'll get some data streams from 72.1E?

No pal, I will wait while the other dish goes up to try again if the 1.2 does not get it, I wont have a problem with that hitting the pole, it will be made not to :)

What did you take the grinder to CH the dish ?,

Of course not - bloody heathen. The IRTE ground stand has three pieces of angle iron on the base, cutting a triangle out of one of them at the just the right point gave/gives another 2 degrees to the floor for the 1.8m Precision reflector, not that it is of much use nowadays.
