Hi,

I have a few 36 volt 8" optical actuators for sale that are brand new. They are made by LINAK and are high quality, the model number is Linak LA30. I contacted LINAK UK with the part number and was informed they were no longer in production. However, when they were in production they were manufactured in Germany.

Due to the 8" stroke length they are probably best used as an inclined orbit actuator where the short stroke length and high sensitivity from the optical switch are ideal. They can be used for Azimuth but would probably only provide a limited arc.

Please note that a 5V connection is required, some v-boxes and 36 volt receiver/positioners have a 5V connection. Or, a separate 5V line could be used to operate the actuator with the remaining 4 wires connected to a v-box. Also, there is no arm clamp or fixing bolts included, however, an old arm clamp shimmed out can be used to secure the actuator.

The actuators come with a black hood that provides weather protection. This can be removed and self amalgamating tape applied as an alternative for weather protection. They are boxed in plain packaging with no branding on the box.

Although these actuators are brand new, they are no longer in production so I was unable to find a link to the precise model. However, I have pasted below a link to the nearest model I could find.

Do you have any left? If so, what's the distance between the two holes when it is fully retracted?

Yes, I still have some left.
The distance between the centres of the holes when fully retracted is approximately 36cm

I am not sure what point you are trying to make in my For Sale topic?
The distance between the centre of the two fixing point holes when the actuator is retracted is approximately 36cm and I have some actuators left for sale.

Advice Needed - Small Size Actuator Clamps ?

The actuators you are selling are not designed to be installed with a clamp on the arm, there is a good chance the tolerance between inner and outer serfaces will be compromised unless these are matched to clamping mechanism. Additionally the shroud shown is designed to protect the motor only when installed horizontally. The current LA30 from Linak as you have linked to (they are still being manufactured) is IP66 , or dust and water resistant , with an updated shroud design.

The forum member who enquired about the actuators asked about the distance between the fixing point holes. From that, I assume that they might wish to fix the actuator in place using the fixing holes and not a clamp. For your information, these actuators do work with an arm clamp in place without any compromise to the movement.

Thank you for your valuable input and for keeping my For Sale topic to the top of the list in the Classifieds.
