Did anyone watch the TV program " A Tabloid is born" on BBC 4? What was amazing that on the background they had a picture of an old 1924 Mirror. As the program went on I went and fetched a copy of a 1911 Mirror which I have to show it to my wife. As I was showing it to her they actually showed my paper!!! It was the one where robbers and Police had a shooting for hours, Winston Chrchill was there as well. What a coincident! :)

I got the paper when I bought some spares for my old Norton from somewhere, the paper was used as padding  for the box. So I took it out and I havekept it ever since. Almost 100 years old...

Sure it wasn't a facsimile T_G?

A few years ago a publisher (Great Newspapers Reprinted) brought out commemorative newspapers of famous incidents.

Maybe this was one describing the Siege of Sydney Street.

Or maybe not...

Not really, the editions were 'as printed' e.g no reference to the new publisher. They came with a tabloid covering mentioning the anniversary contents.

But wait - the Daily Mirror itself also bought out similar editions. I have some on WW11 ( the Blitz, Dunkirk etc.)
and at the bottom of the last page, below the original publishing spiel, is a line 'Reprinted by Mirror Books Ltd 1981'.

If this is missing on your copy you may have the original.

Incidentally, I have the first edition of the Mirror (November 2 1903) re-issued by Great Newspapers. It started as a women's newspaper, all adverts offering choice fashions, underwear, women's health remedies etc.

Most features were written by middle-class women for their own kind. An age away from the screaming celebrity-obsessed rag it is today :-doh2

I had a look, can't see any signs of a reprint. The paper is quite yellow from the age, if you compare it to the white paper next to it. Also, coming from an old chap who was selling old motorcycle parts...

In any case, even if it were the genuine thing I don't think it is worth much.

Hmm.. definitely looks kosher. Worth keeping though, if only for curiosity value.
